Polymer blend compositions comprise a polyphenylene ether polymer, a styrene-acrylonitrile polymer and a copolymer compatiblizing agent in an amount sufficient to effect improved compatability between the polyphenylene ether polymer and the styrene-acrylonitrile polymer. The copolymer compatabilizing agent comprises a graft copolymer of A graft polymerized to B or a block copolymer of A block polymerized with B. A and B comprise polymers which are immiscible with one another, and one of A and B is miscible with the polyphenylene ether polymer while the other of A and B is miscible with the styrene-acrylonitrile polymer.

Polymer blend compositions including copolymer compatibilizing agents

Compositions comprising 100 parts by weight high (&gt;50 wt %) nitrile rubber graft copolymer and from 20 to 50 pbw nitrile rubber are thermoplastic elastomers. These elastomers exhibit improved abrasion resistance and compression set properties, and have good oil resistance.

Compositions comprising a vinyl aromatic compound-acrylonitrile copolymer, a nitrile rubber and a graft copolymer thereof possess good rubbery characteristics and are processible as thermoplastics with low mold shrinkage.

Thermoplastic compositions containing nitrile rubber

Thermoplastic core-shell compositions having a rigid core, a rubbery acrylic shell and transition layer intermediate between the core and shell layers and formed of the core and shell monomer components have excellent elastomeric properties. Although the rigid and rubbery components include interreactive functional monomers, the resulting elastomers remain thermally processable in extrusion and injection molding equipment.

Thermoplastic acrylic elastomers

Monoethylenically unsaturated beta-carbonyl-containing carboxyl functional monomers and addition polymers containing them and other monoethylenically unsaturated monomers are disclosed, as are methods of coating substrates with the polymers to provide films of improved water resistance. The monomers are especially stable in the form of a salt with a volatile base, and the removal of the base when a polymer containing the monomer is cured causes decarboxylation, and the removal of the carboxyl groups improves the water resistance.

Polymers having improved water resistance and monomers for same

An air drying and air curable latex coating composition is provided in which water has dispersed therein unsaturated resin particles, and these are combined with an emulsion of drier salt in solution in water immiscible organic solvent. The unsaturated resin particles are preferably aqueous emulsion copolymer particles including from 1% to 20% by weight of a monoethylenically unsaturated monomer carrying a reactive group selected from carboxyl or 1,2-epoxy, a portion of the selected reactive groups in the emulsion copolymer particles being reacted in the latex with a monoethylenically unsaturated monomer carrying one of the other of said reactive groups to provide unsaturated groups on said latex particles.
