A milking system includes a milking member for extracting milk from an animal, a transport line, a milk tank, a milk filter unit for filtering the milk with a first filter device and a second filter device, each including a filter container and a filter element, and a valve arrangement to convey milk through the devices, where the valve arrangement communicates with a control unit. The milking system further includes an indication device generating an indication to a user when any one of the filter elements needs to be replaced, which filter of the first and second filter device needs to be replaced, and when the filter element indicated to need to be replaced is accessible for replacement. A method for operating and cleaning the milking system is also provided.

Milking system, and a method for operating a milking system

A milking installation includes first and second fluid systems (S; S) and a coupling arrangement for connecting and disconnecting the first fluid system (S) to and from the second fluid system (S). In a connected state, the first and second fluid systems (S, S) are in fluid communication with one another, and in a disconnected state the first and second fluid systems (S, S) are not in fluid communication with one another. The coupling arrangement includes a common cavity (CC) configured to be alternately included in the first fluid system (S) or in the second fluid system (S) for through passage of fluid while the first and second fluid systems (S, S) are disconnected from one another. The first fluid system (S) also has a by-pass arrangement configured to allow fluid in the first fluid system (S) to circulate independently from the passage of fluid through the common cavity (CC) when the common cavity (CC) is included in the second fluid system (S).

An arrangement for and method of providing a representative sample of milk from one animal, after stirring the milk, includes a receiver, milk extracting parts, a pump transferring milk from the receiver to a sample unit, a circulation line extending from the receiver via the pump and back to the receiver, for stirring the milk in the receiver. The arrangement stirs the extracted milk without injecting air into the milk, before a sample part of the milk is transferred from the receiver to the milk-sampling unit, thereby ensuring that the sampled part is representative of the milk from one animal.

Milking station arrangement for and method of obtaining a representative milking sample

A method is provided for eliminating the risk of leakage from a first one to a second one of two fluid systems in an apparatus for handling a fluid for human consumption, with a shut-off device including a cavity and a respective valve element connecting the cavity to each of the two fluid systems, each valve means being capable of preventing any fluid communication from the cavity to the respective fluid system. When the valve element prevents any fluid communication from the cavity to the fluid systems, a fluid is supplied to the cavity and a pressure is provided in the cavity which is higher than one or each of the respective pressures in the two fluid systems, thereby eliminating the risk of leakage from a first one to a second one of two fluid systems in case of failure of the valve element.

Method and arrangement for eliminating the risk of leakage from a first one to a second one of two fluid systems

The invention relates to a solution for cleaning a milking plant, which includes a milk line system (MLS), connectable to a collecting means, and is adapted to deliver milk that has been withdrawn from animals to a milk storage means (). The milking plant also includes milk storage valve means (), arranged between the milk line system (MLS) and the milk storage means (). The valve means () are selectively adjustable to prevent fluid communication between the milk line system (MLS) and the milk storage means () during cleaning of the milk line system (MLS). Moreover, the valve means () are associated with a monitoring arrangement (, EPS), which is adapted to determine an amount of leakage through the valve means () during the cleaning of the milk line system (MLS), and produce a valve health status signal (Sv) reflecting the amount of leakage. Hence, the functionality status of the valve means () may be qualitatively evaluated.

Automatic monitoring of milking plant valve means

The invention is related to a washing apparatus for cleaning milking related equipment comprising a washing apparatus connectable to an automatic milking station () by interconnecting pipelines in such a way as to enable the washing apparatus to circulate a washing fluid through the milking related equipment of the automatic milking station (). The washing apparatus () comprise a circulation tankand a separate pre-filling tank (), whereby filling in advance and holding of the washing fluid to be used in a subsequent washing step is enabled. The washing apparatus () further comprises connecting means for connection of the pre-filling tank () to the circulation tank (). By means of the invention the time needed to complete a cleaning procedure is shortened essentially, and a cleaning procedure rendered more effective. The invention further relates to such method.

Washing apparatus and method for cleaning milking related equipment

Example embodiments of the present invention relate to methods and arrangements for cooling milk in a milk storage tank of an automatic milking system comprising (i) measuring an amount of extracted milk by a milk flow meter; (ii) determining a cooling need for milk stored or to be stored in the milk storage tank based on the amount of milk; (iii) measuring a quantity indicative of a temperature of an inner surface area of a bottom portion of the milk storage tank; and cooling the bottom portion of the milk storage tank in consecutive periods, such that each period of cooling (&#x3c4;1, &#x3c4;3) is followed by a respective period of non-cooling (&#x3c4;2, &#x3c4;4), wherein the duration of each period of cooling and/or non-cooling is based on the measured quantity indicative of the inner surface area temperature, and the cooling need.
