A centrifugal separator and a method of controlling a centrifugal separator are disclosed. The centrifugal separator includes a rotor delimiting therein a separation space, an inlet for liquid feed mixture, a first outlet for heavy phase, a second outlet for light phase, and at least one channel extending towards a central portion of the rotor. The method includes separating liquid feed mixture into at least the heavy phase and the light phase in the separation space, and determining at the first outlet that a pressure build-up period has passed, and thereafter determining that an abrupt pressure change takes place at the first outlet, and controlling the centrifugal separator in response to the abrupt pressure change.

A centrifugal separation system includes a centrifugal separator, a liquid feed mixture conduit, a light phase conduit, a heavy phase conduit, and a flow control system. The flow control system includes a controller, a counterpressure generating arrangement connected to a heavy phase conduit, a liquid feed mixture measuring device, and a light phase measuring device and/or a heavy phase measuring device. The counterpressure generating arrangement includes a heavy phase receiving vessel and a heavy phase pressure control arrangement connected to the vessel. The controller is configured to control the heavy phase pressure control arrangement based on measurements from the liquid feed mixture measuring device and on measurements from the light phase measuring device and/or the heavy phase measuring device in order to control a heavy phase counterpressure in the heavy phase outlet passage.

Centrifugal separation system and method having control based on pressure

A system for cleaning polluted scrubber fluid includes a disc stack centrifugal separator a separator inlet for polluted scrubber fluid, a first separator outlet for cleaned scrubber fluid, and a second separator outlet for a pollutant phase. A first transportation system transports polluted scrubber fluid to the separator inlet, a second transportation system transports cleaned scrubber fluid back to the exhaust gas scrubber, a bleed-off transportation system connected to the second transportation system bleeds off part of the cleaned scrubber fluid, a dirty drain tank connected to the bleed-off transportation system receives the bled-off scrubber fluid, and a waste reduction transportation system transports scrubber fluid from the dirty drain tank to the first transportation system. A controller receives information related to the work load of the disc stack centrifugal separator and regulates the transport of scrubber fluid based on the information.

Scrubber fluid treatment process

A centrifugal separator for separating a fluid mixture into components includes a rotor which forms within itself a separation space delimited by a rotor wall, and includes a set of separation plates defining separation passages there between. An inlet is arranged for supply of a fluid mixture to be separated and a first outlet is arranged for a separated lighter first component of the fluid mixture. A sludge space is being defined as an annular portion of the separation space radially outside the separation plates. A second outlet is arranged for discharge of a separated denser second component of the fluid mixture extending from the radially outer portion of the sludge space. A plurality of sludge space plates, which sludge space plates are separate components from the separation plates, is arranged in the sludge space, extending outwardly and in an annular direction with respect to the rotational axis, while forming a gap between the sludge space plates and the rotor wall.

A combined cleaning system to be used in a wet scrubber process for reducing SOand NOin exhaust gases from a combustion engine comprises an Exhaust Gas Cleaning (EGC) scrubber and an Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) scrubber. The combined cleaning system further comprises a scrubber water circulation tank arranged to circulate scrubber water in an EGC scrubber process loop between the scrubber water circulation tank and the EGC scrubber and in an EGR scrubber process loop between the scrubber water circulation tank and the EGR scrubber. The EGR scrubber process loop comprises an arrangement for supply of a first alkaline agent to the flow of scrubber water and a first separator unit to separate particulate matter from the circulated scrubber water.

Combined cleaning system and method for reduction of SOX and NOX in exhaust gases from a combustion engine

Exhaust gas cleaning equipment including a gas scrubber and a scrubber fluid cleaning equipment for cleaning polluted scrubber fluid. The scrubber fluid cleaning equipment includes a centrifugal separator for separating at least a pollutant phase and a cleaned scrubber fluid from said polluted scrubber fluid. The centrifugal separator has a rotor enclosing a separation space with a stack of separating discs, a separator inlet for polluted scrubber fluid extending into said separation space, a first separator outlet for cleaned scrubber fluid extending from said separation space, and a second separator outlet for the pollutant phase extending from said separation space.
