A photon-counting detector includes a first subset of detector modules and at least one second subset of detector modules. Each detector module has power-consuming circuitry. Power-consuming circuitry of detector modules in the first subset is configured, in an operational mode in which the detector modules are powered on, to consume a first amount of power. Correspondingly, power-consuming circuitry of detector modules in the at least one second subset is configured, in the operational mode, to consume a second amount of power that is lower than the first amount of power.

Photon counting detector

Disclosed is an edge-on photon counting detector and a method for manufacturing a charge collecting side of such detector. The edge-on photon counting detector comprises a semi-conducting substrate. The semi-conducting substrate comprises, a first end adapted to face an x-ray source and a second end opposite the first end in the direction of incoming x-rays, and at least one strip having N depth segments, N&#x2265;2, each of the depth segments comprising a charge collecting metal electrode and a charge collecting side comprising doped regions and insulating regions, wherein each of the charge collecting metal electrodes is arranged over a corresponding doped region and is connected to a respective routing trace arranged on the insulating regions, the respective routing trace being adapted to conduct signals from the charge collecting metal electrode to a read-out pad E, connectable to front-end electronics, arranged at the second end.

Detector for x-ray imaging

An X-ray detector system includes a photon-counting detector with multiple detector modules including a respective power-consuming circuitry. At least some of the detector modules include a temperature sensor to monitor a temperature on the detector module and generate a temperature representing signal. A detector controller selectively switches, for at least a subset of the detector modules, the detector modules between an idle mode in which at least a respective part of the detector modules is powered off and an operational mode in which the detector modules are powered on. The power-consuming circuitries of the at least a subset of detector modules generate calibration data based on the temperature representing signals to correct for any temperature-induced changes to image data generated by the photon-counting detector.

Thermal management of photon-counting detectors

There is provided a detector module () for a modular x-ray detector, wherein the detector module () includes multiple x-ray detector substrates () and associated anti-scatter collimators (). Each x-ray detector substrate () has a number of detector diodes, and each x-ray detector substrate has an associated anti-scatter collimator (). Each x-ray detector substrate () has an integrated circuit () for collecting x-ray signals from the diodes attached to the x-ray detector substrate at the bottom of the x-ray detector substrate assuming the top is where the x-rays enter, and the associated anti-scatter collimator () is placed above the integrated circuit ().

Modular x-ray detector

Disclosed is a detector system for x-ray imaging. The detector system includes a detector having a plurality of edge-on detector modules. Each of the edge-on detector modules includes a first edge that is adapted to be oriented towards an x-ray source and a front-side running essentially parallel to the direction of incoming x-rays. The front-side includes at least one charge collecting electrode. At least a subset of the plurality of edge-on detector modules being pairwise arranged, front-side to front-side, whereby a front-side to front-side gap is defined between the front-sides of the pairwise arranged edge-on detector modules. The pairwise arranged edge-on detector modules are associated with an anti-scatter collimator arranged in the x-ray path between the x-ray source and the edge-on detector modules and overlapping the front-side to front-side gap.

Radiation hard silicon detectors for x-ray imaging

Disclosed is an edge-on photon counting detector and a method for manufacturing a charge collecting side of such detector. The edge-on photon counting detector includes a semi-conducting substrate. The proposed technology relates to an x-ray detector arrangement having x-ray detector sub-modules arranged in two or more layers, where the separation between adjacent sub-modules in a lower layer is smaller than the corresponding separation between sub-modules in an upper layer.

X-ray detector arrangement

A Silicon detector for x-ray imaging is based on multiple semiconductor detector modules (A) arranged together to form an overall detector area, where each semiconductor detector module includes an x-ray sensor of crystalline Silicon oriented edge-on to incoming x-rays and connected to integrated circuitry for registration of x-rays interacting in the x-ray sensor through the photoelectric effect and through Compton scattering and for an incident x-ray energy between 40 keV and 250 keV to provide the spatial and energy information from these interactions to enable an image of an object. Further, anti-scatter modules (B) are interfolded between at least a subset of the semiconductor detector modules to at least partly absorb Compton scattered x-rays.

Silicon detector assembly for X-ray imaging

A new device for x-ray optics is proposed which is an analogous to zone plates but works for higher x-ray energies. This is achieved by using both refraction and diffraction of the x-rays and building the new device(s) in a three dimensional structure, contrary to the zone plates which are basically a two dimensional device. The three dimensional structure is built from a multitude of prisms, utilizing both refraction and diffraction of incoming x-rays to shape the overall x-ray flux. True two dimensional focusing is achieved in the x-ray energy range usually employed in medical imaging and may be used in a wide area of applications in this field and in other fields of x-ray imaging. The device can be readily produced in large volumes.
