A securing arrangement for releasably connecting two items comprises two elements. One of the elements is provided with hole with one wide section and one narrower section. The other element is provided with a peg opposite to and facing into the narrower hole section. The other item has a horseshoe-shaped protrusion with an inner waist and an outer collar, both of which has a lateral opening. To connect the items, the horseshoe-shaped protrusion with its collar is inserted laterally through the wide section of the hole with the lateral opening oriented towards the peg, and then longitudinally moved from the wide section into the narrower section to let the horseshoe-shaped protrusion enclose the peg. The items are secured by rotating relative to each other.

Detachable joint

A handsaw includes a blade having a toothed cutting edge pivoted to a handle. The handle includes a frame and a tooth protecting element. The tooth protecting element is pivoted to the frame to be swung between a working position and a retracted position. Each of the frame and the tooth protecting element includes a gap, whereby when the tooth protecting element is in a retracted position, the gaps are aligned to receive the blade. When the blade is in a retracted state, a portion of the cutting edge is exposed to enable purchasers or users to know what type of cutting edge is provided on the blade without having to move the blade to a working position.

A sheath for handsaws of the kind having an elongated toothed blade and a handle at one end includes an elongated body with an open groove along the majority of the length of the body to receive the tooth line of the saw. Near a free lower end, the body carries a cover which releasably holds the free end of the saw blade. At the opposite upper end there is a clamp which releasably holds the handle portion of the saw. This makes it possible to release the saw from the sheath by small, comfortable swinging motions.
