The present invention is directed generally to the use of propylene-based elastomers in articles. The propylene-based elastomers have isotactic polypropylene crystallinity, a melting point by DSC of 110&#xb0; C. or less, a heat of fusion of from 5 to 50 J/g, and comprise at least 75 wt % propylene-derived units, at least 6 wt % ethylene-derived units, and optionally diene-derived units. The present invention is also directed to processes for making articles comprising propylene-based elastomers.

Articles comprising propylene-based elastomers

The invention concerns films having a cling layer of an elastomeric propylene-based polymer with a low heat of fusion derived from isotactic propylene type crystallinity, as determined by DSC of less than 40 J/g, optionally blended with a crystalline isotactic propylene derived polymer having a heat of fusion over 70 J/g and/or a melting point of at least 120&#xb0; C. as determined by DSC, and a non-cling layer of a polyolefin. The cling layer may contain other components such as crystalline polypropylene.

Stretch-cling films

Two-component polymer composite structures are described, such as a composite structure that includes a first polymer structure and a second polymer structure adhered to one another through interfacial adhesion provided by a semicrystalline random copolymer with 70-88 mole % propylene units and alpha olefin units having 2 or from 4 to 10 carbon atoms, the semicrystalline random copolymer having a heat of fusion of from 2 to 90 J/g and a crystallinity of from 2% to 65% of the crystallinity of isotatic polypropylene.

Polymer composite structure

The present invention provides curable and cured propylene-based elastomers, optionally including a diene, and having isotactic polypropylene crystallinity, a melting point by DSC equal to or less than 110&#xb0; C., and a heat of fusion of from 5 J/g to 50 J/g. The present invention also provides blend compositions comprising any of the propylene-based elastomers described herein. The present invention also provides compositions comprising any of the propylene-based elastomers described herein and 1 to 100 parts by weight of inorganic filler per 100 parts of polymer. The present invention also provides films, fibers, fabrics, molded objects, and extruded forms which include any of the inventive compositions described herein.

Disclosed herein are various compositions that have particular utility in automotive components, including compositions that include: (a) polypropylene having a melting point of 110&#xb0; C. or more; (b) ethylene &#x3b1;-olefin polymer in which the &#x3b1;-olefin is Cor higher; and (c) propylene polymer, having 60 wt % or more units derived from propylene, including isotactically arranged propylene derived sequences and a heat of fusion less than 45 J/g.

High impact polymer compositions

The present invention relates to a cold-drawn breathable film formed from a blend of a soft polymer component and a hard polymer component. The soft polymer component (SPC) is a copolymer of a major olefinic monomer and a minor olefinic monomer. The major olefinic monomer is either ethylene or propylene and forms the majority of the SPC. Preferred films after cold-drawing exhibit a water vapor transmission rate (WVTR) of at least 100 g-mil/m -day.
