An electronic device may include wireless circuitry having one or more radios and one or more antennas. For some device configurations such as during a device low-power mode, a radio (operating in a radio on-off mode) may alternate between on and off states based on a duty cycle to reduce power consumption and increase device battery life. Radio operation in the on-off mode and device operation in the low-power mode may accommodate other radio operations such as emergency broadcast message reception, radio operations under an allocated power budget, user equipment periodic registration and update operations.

Radio operational configurations

A multi-universal subscriber identity module (MUSIM) user equipment (UE) is configured to stay synchronized with a network. The UE registers to a first network for the first SIM, registering to a second network for the second SIM, prior to the UE conducting a high priority activity related to the second SIM, sends, to the first network via a connection associated with the first SIM, a first message comprising an estimated time duration during which the UE conducts the high priority activity related to the second SIM, receives, from the first network, a second message indicating a time period during which the first network will retain a connection context for the connection associated with the first SIM in an RRC Inactive state and when the UE completes the high priority activity, determines the connection context of the first network for the connection associated with the first SIM.

The exemplary embodiments relate to a computer readable storage medium, a user equipment, a method and an integrated circuit that perform operations. A user equipment (UE) enters into a first state including one of a non-dormant state or a dormant state with a secondary serving cell (SCell) of a network, the SCell being configured to provide either one of a non-dormant bandwidth part (BWP) as a secondary component carrier (SCC) in the non-dormant state or a dormant BWP as an SCC in the dormant state. The UE switches from the first state to a second state including the other one of the non-dormant state or the dormant state, the switch being based on network configuration, a dormancy timer, or a radio condition.

Techniques and devices for service-specific tagging of data by an application processor (AP) of a user equipment device (UE). A first indication may be sent from the UE to a baseband processor (BB) of the UE of one or more quality of service preferences for an upcoming data session, and the BB may configure one or more layers of the BB according to the quality of service preferences. The BB may further communicate with a network to establish protocols for the quality of service preferences. The BB may determine one or more network conditions, and may transmit feedback from the BB to the AP related to the determined network conditions. In response, the AP may send a second indication of one or more updated quality of service preferences to the BB based at least in part on the feedback received from the BB.

Methods for transmitting and receiving data in 5G NR device based on data/service tagging from application processor

To accommodate a mix of high frequency carriers and lower frequency carriers, a protocol stack may include a radio link control (RLC) entity that allows configuration of status reporting control parameters on per carrier, or per subcarrier spacing. Alternatively, a protocol stack may include two RLC entities, one for handling high frequency carriers, and another for handling lower frequency carriers. (High frequency carriers and lower frequency carriers may be distinguished based on a frequency threshold.) Furthermore, a user equipment may transmit (to the network) an indication of its L2 buffer size. The network may configure the UE and/or control scheduling, to ensure the UE's L2 buffer does not overrun. Alternatively, the UE may indicate that it can support a percentage of a maximum buffer size. The network may configure the UE and/or control scheduling so that the UE's buffer occupancy does not exceed the percentage.

Handling high data rates in protocol stack when using high frequency spectrum

The method includes executing an application that receives data from the network, transmitting UE assistance information to the network, wherein the UE assistance information corresponds to a traffic pattern for the data that is received from the network for the application, entering a radio resource control (RRC) inactive state and receiving the data from the network while in the RRC inactive state.

Devices and associated methods for operating a dual-subscriber identity module (SIM) dual-standby (DSDS) user equipment device (UE) configured with a first SIM and a second SIM. The UE performs communications with a first cellular network using the first SIM and a first radio resource control (RRC) connection, and receives a request to perform a higher priority communication using the second SIM. In response to the request to perform the higher priority communication, the UE transmits a request to the first network to suspend the first RRC connection. After transmission of the request to suspend the first RRC connection, the UE receives a message from the first network to place the first RRC connection in an inactive state, and initiates a timer, wherein the timer is used to determine whether the first RRC connection remains in the inactive state or transitions to an idle state.

User equipment having multiple subscriber identity modules with improved suspend / resume operation

A user equipment (UE) is configured to enter a radio resource control (RRC) CONNECTED state on a first network using a first subscriber identification module (SIM) and an RRC INACTIVE or RRC IDLE state on a second network using a second SIM, transmit, to the first network, a request for a scheduling gap (SG) configuration, wherein, during a duration of the SG, the first network avoids scheduling resources for the UE, receive, from the first network, an indication of the SG configuration to be used, during the duration of the SG, tune away from the first network to perform operations on the second network and after the duration of the SG, tune back to the first network, wherein the RRC CONNECTED state is maintained on the first network during the duration of the SG.

Provided is a method for a user equipment (UE). The UE generates a first information for the UE for transmission to a network device. The first information is associated with a small data transmission (SDT) procedure in an inactive state of the UE. The UE obtains a first configuration information from the network device. The first configuration information is determined with reference to the first information. The UE determines whether to perform the SDT procedure in the inactive state according to the first configuration information. The UE, in response to determining to perform the SDT procedure in the inactive state, performs the SDT procedure in the inactive state according to the first configuration information.

Power saving for SDT procedure

A user equipment (UE) includes a first subscriber identification module (SIM) and a second SIM. The UE is configured to establish a first cellular network connection based on, at least, the first SIM and a second cellular network connection based on, at least, the second SIM. The UE sends, by the first SIM, a first registration request to the network, wherein the first registration request comprises an identification indicating the multi-SIM device is a type of multi-SIM device, receives, by the first SIM, a first registration accept message indicating the first registration request has been accepted, wherein the first registration accept message comprises a first temporary identification for the first SIM and sends, by the second SIM, an access network message comprising one of the first temporary identification or a further temporary identification based on, at least, the first temporary identification.

Some embodiments include a system, method, and computer program product for managing power consumption of a user equipment (UE) supporting sidelink discontinuous reception (SL-DRX) in a 5G wireless communications system. A UE determines a candidate slot for sending a signal based on data sensed in various periods over a history window. Some embodiments include a processor that can determine set of candidate slots that are sufficiently sensed based on sensed periods over a history window, and determine a subset of candidate slots of the set of candidate slots based at least on an occupancy threshold over the history window. The processor can select a candidate slot from the subset of candidate slots, and transmit via the transceiver, a first signal via the selected candidate slot.

One example embodiment comprises a UE device comprising a processor configured to perform operations comprising: transmitting a UE Assistance Information message comprising a measurement request; receiving a first RRCReconfiguration message comprising a measConfig information element (IE); performing one or more measurements on each of on one or more frequencies based at least on the RRC measConfig IE, wherein the one or more frequencies comprise at least one non-serving frequency associated with a neighboring cell; transmitting a MeasurementReport message that indicates the one or more measurements for at least one of the one or more frequencies; and receiving a second RRCReconfiguration message that configures the UE with the at least one of the one or more frequencies.
