In some aspects, the disclosure is directed to methods and systems for NAN tethering a second wireless to a first wireless device. The first wireless device includes a primary processor and a secondary processor. The primary processor negotiates one or more first wake up slots for a NAN service with the second wireless device, establishes the NAN service with the second wireless device, and offloads the NAN service to the secondary processor, responsive to establishing the NAN service and prior to the primary processor entering into a sleep mode. The secondary processor renegotiates one or more second wake up slots with the second wireless device for the offloaded NAN service. The secondary processor is configured to wirelessly tether, the second wireless device to the first wireless device, using the one or more second wake up slots of the offloaded NAN service.

Methods, systems, and apparatus for parallel scanning of channels in communication networks are described herein. A parallel scanning device performs a scanning operation that includes parallel (i.e., simultaneous) scanning of channels that are in a common frequency band or in different frequency bands. The parallel scanning of channels results in a reduction of scan time, which reduces power consumption. Furthermore, a scanning operation may undesirably interrupt and/or delay normal communication traffic to and from the parallel scanning device, and the comparatively shorter scan time resulting from the parallel scanning operation can reduce such interruption and/or delay.

Parallel scanning of wireless channels

A communication circuitry includes a media access control including a first wireless interface and a second wireless interface. An application processor includes a network stack connected with the media access control. A communication packet is routed from the first wireless interface to the second wireless interface or from the second wireless interface to the first wireless interface without sending the communication packet to the network stack.

A system and method of creating more than one communication interface between a wireless device using a single, dual-radio transceiver by leveraging the basic service set (BSS) and radio measurement information. A wireless device operating in multiple-in, multiple-put (MIMO) mode maintains a first communications interface with an access point while establishing a second communications interface by downgrading the existing MIMO connection to a single-in, single-out (SISO) connection. The downgrading of the MIMO connection to a SISO connection frees up a radio signal processing chain to establish a second communications interface utilizing the BSS and radio measurement information from the first communications interface.
