Various embodiments of a method and apparatus for introducing a new service are disclosed. In some embodiments, a first Metric Setting (i.e., a Packet Delay Budget (PDB)) is set based on a type associated with the new service, and initial values of the first Metric Setting are also chosen based on the type of the new service. Network conditions are allowed to vary, and performance parameters are measured, while keeping the first performance metric at a fixed value. The other Metric Settings are set based on the measured performance parameters. The process of varying the network conditions, measuring the performance parameters and setting the Metric Settings based on the measurements is repeated until a set of parameters is arrived at, which optimizes the network's performance. Then the PDB is varied, and the process is repeated to optimize the PRB (Priority Resource Block) utilization.

Method and apparatus for processing new service

A method and apparatus for allocating network resources, including computational nodes available for hosting network functions, such as 4G EPC (Evolved Packet Core) functions and/or 5GC (fifth generation Core) functions. Method and apparatus for edgeless enterprises

A probe device and method for measuring TDD interference from neighboring networks in an Enterprise Network (EN). The probe device is situated on a campus of an EN in a position for measuring TDD interference between a neighboring wireless network. The probe device measures TDD interference data and provides it to an Enterprise Network and Orchestrator, which determines the TDD configuration used by neighboring networks, and can take action to mitigate or resolve interference effects from neighboring networks. The probe UE has a TDD measurement unit that may include an SIB Measurement unit for receiving broadcast SIBs signals from neighboring networks, a UL SINR Measurement Unit, a DL SINR Measurement Unit, and a UL RSSI Measurement Unit. The probe device may be positioned in a fixed location in an Enterprise Network campus, and connected to an external power supply.

Method and apparatus for using a probe UE to measure interference using dynamic time division duplex (TDD) configuration

A method and apparatus for utilizing microslices in an enterprise wireless communication network to manage and control network performance. The microslice instances are monitored during network operation, for example at communication nodes, functional blocks, and end-to-end to provide Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). These KPI are compared with performance objectives, which may be Service Level Objectives (SLOs). If the performance objectives are not met by the KPIs, then one or more of the microslice instances may be dynamically adjusted until the performance objectives are sufficiently met. Alternatively, the lower priority microslice instances may be dropped (i.e., terminated) until the performance objectives are sufficiently met.

Method and apparatus for using microslices to control network performance of an enterprise wireless communication network

Communications are transferred from being including a connection between User Equipment (UE) and a source node to including a connection between the UE and a target node, without requiring use of an X2 gateway. The method includes (1) ceasing to send messages from a source node, along the communications path, to User Equipment (UE), (2) then waiting a period of time, and (3) after the waiting, beginning to send messages along a new communication path from the target to the UE. The period of time is chosen to be adequate for flushing messages from a queue associated with the first communication path.

A first referred to as Approach A has three 40 MHz BWPs. The first BWP of the BWP configuration 2, approach A referred to as 'BWP #1' resides in the top of the 100 MHz bandwidth. A second approach referred to as “BWP #2” resides in the middle portion of the 100 MHz band. A third approach referred to as “BWP #3” resides in the bottom portion of the 100 MHz band. BWP configuration 2, approach A allows overlaps between the BWP #1 and BWP #2 and also between BWP #2 and BWP #3. These overlaps can be leveraged to allow a diversity of users to be scheduled across BWPs #1 and #2 and between BWPs #2 and #3. In some embodiments, BWP #2 aligns with BWP Configuration 1 users.

Disclosed is a method and apparatus for storing geofencing information within a SIM card. The geofencing information within the SIM (subscriber identity module) card is updated using an OTA (over the air) Update Server. Such geofencing information for a particular enterprise network is pushed to the SIM within a UE (user equipment) upon detecting that the UE is near, or within, the campus of an enterprise network. In some embodiments, the UE requests an update from the OTA Update Server.

A method and apparatus for defining, configuring, operating, monitoring, and modifying microslices in an enterprise network is described. Microslices provide an end-to-end logical network through multiple networks, which allows efficient arrangement of data flows in the enterprise network with a defined Quality of Service (QoS). Various embodiments of a system for creating and implementing microslice instances in a wireless communications network are disclosed. A microslice instance can connect a UE in the enterprise network with an external server. In some embodiments, the enterprise network administrator can define Service Level Objectives (SLOs), device groups, service types, and user application groups, and associate them with one or more microslices. An orchestrator can configure the microslice with an appropriate amount of network resources to be allocated to the microslice, and then set-up, operate, monitor, and modify the microslice instance to adapt to current network conditions.

Method and apparatus for microslicing wireless enterprise communication networks using microslice profiles

A system and method are provided in which a first MTU (maximum transmission unit) size is determined messages traveling in a first direction along a path. A second MTU size is determined for messages traveling in a second direction along the same path. Messages are sent in the first and second directions based on the first and second MTU size, respectively. In some embodiments, different sizes are chosen for the DL MTU and the UL MTU. In some embodiments, triggers are used to proactively change the MTU size with network conditions. In some embodiments, packet segmentation may be performed at the eNB/gNB. In some embodiments, mobility support is provided with packet segmentation. In some embodiments, dedicated bearers are pre-established that support specific MTU sizes. In some embodiments, the SDAP (service data adaptation protocol) may announce the MTU size to use for a given flow on the UL.

Directional flow based MTU management

Methods and apparatus for managing user subscription credentials provisioned to user equipment (UEs) and to be released at some future time for reuse and repurposing are disclosed. The methods and apparatus allow previously provisioned UE credentials to be deleted from both the UEs and from the wireless network components that manage and maintain the UE credentials. Four specific methods and apparatus for provisioning UEs with SIM credentials and reclaiming of provisioned credentials are described in detail: (1) a validity timer-based approach to provisioning UEs with SIM credentials and reclaiming of provisioned credentials; (2) a release command-based approach to provisioning UEs with SIM credentials and reclaiming of provisioned credentials; (3) a user-initiated release of previously provisioned SIM credentials; and (4) a Mobile Device Management (MDM) methodology-based approach to provisioning UEs with SIM credentials and reclaiming of provisioned credentials.

Reclaiming of a provisioned credential on user equipment

Time Division Duplex (TDD) Configuration Selection for CBRS operation with TDD Configuration Mismatch methods and apparatus are disclosed. The methods and apparatus allocate CBRS bandwidth and select TDD configurations in a manner that allows maximum cooperation between GAA and PAL CBSDs, and includes procedures that avoid forcing the procedures into a fallback mode whenever a TDD configuration mismatch occurs. The methods and apparatus allocate an appropriate TDD configuration across all of the CBSDs (BS/APs) in the CBRS network so that there is minimal interreference between the CBSDs and so that there is uniform usage of the bandwidth in terms of use cases across all of the CBSDs in a given CBRS network. The disclosed methods and apparatus determine how to select the correct TDD configurations for the CBSDs (or BS/APs) based on the constitution of the CBSDs, and taking the GAA and PAL CBSD requirements into account.

Time division duplex configuration selection for citizen band radio service operation with TDD configuration mismatch

A dynamic Packet Data Network (PDN) context without requiring Access Point Name (APN) configuration on a user equipment (UE) is disclosed. The disclosed method and apparatus eliminate the need for a manual configuration of a UE in the field when different traffic forwarding or routing paths are required. The disclosed method and apparatus also provide for the proper Internet Protocol (IP) address assignment and the management of the Quality of Service (QOS) treatments applied to specific flows based on determined characteristics of the flows.

Packet routing enhancements in microslices

A method and apparatus for enhancing load balancing within wireless networks and, in particular, within wireless networks operating within Enterprise Networks is disclosed. The method and apparatus efficiently balance the load that is shouldered by each BS/AP within the wireless network. This is particularly advantageous within wireless networks operating within an Enterprise Network. Improved BS/AP deployments in Enterprise Networks that maintain high system throughput in the EN while optimizing the performance of UEs (with regard to battery utilization and service) are disclosed.
