Systems and methods for visualization and troubleshooting of a distributed Wi-Fi network, implemented through one of a mobile application and a web page, include, responsive to obtaining data from the distributed Wi-Fi network, providing a map of the distributed Wi-Fi network based on the obtained data, wherein the map includes a first icon designating a gateway node, one or more second icons each designating one or more nodes, and connectors between the gateway node, wherein the gateway node and the one or more nodes are in a tree topology; providing a visualization in the map based on a current operational status of the distributed Wi-Fi network from the obtained data, wherein the visualization comprises a plurality of visual indicators of the current operational status; and providing notifications based on the current operational status.

Distributed Wi-Fi network visualization and troubleshooting

A Wi-Fi network configured for Wi-Fi client bridging using Layer 2 (L2) tunnels includes a plurality of access points each being one or more of a parent node, a child node, and a gateway node in the Wi-Fi network; wherein the plurality of access points are interconnected in a tree via a plurality of backhaul links and wherein each of the plurality of access points are configured to communicate with Wi-Fi client devices via a plurality of client links; and wherein each of the plurality of backhaul links is formed via a Layer 2 (L2) tunnel over a backhaul Wi-Fi interface between each parent node and each child node.

Systems and methods include a cloud controller communicatively coupled to one or more distributed Wi-Fi networks and configured to manage the one or more distributed Wi-Fi networks. The cloud controller includes a network interface communicatively coupled to the distributed Wi-Fi networks; one or more processors communicatively coupled to the network interface; and memory storing instructions that, when executed, cause the one or more processors to: determine a new topology state for a topology of Wi-Fi network from a current topology state based on management of the Wi-Fi network; cause one or more nodes to change to new associated parent nodes based on the new topology state; cause an update to a configuration of the one or more nodes based on the new topology state; and continue to change additional nodes to new associated parent nodes based on the new topology state until the new topology state is obtained.
