This document describes methods, devices, systems, and means for controlling wireless devices using aggregated data from cross-network access points. An access point (AP) provides operational information from a plurality of different types of client devices communicating with the AP to a cloud service and obtains per-client-device-type policy data from the cloud service that is based on aggregated operational information from a plurality of different types of client devices from different AP networks. The AP controls, using a wireless transceiver, a wireless client device that is of a first type, using the per-client-device-type policy data for the first type based on aggregated operational information from a plurality of different types of client devices from different AP networks.

Controlling wireless devices using aggregated data from cross-network access points

Methods, systems, and devices are described for wireless communication. An access point may use a protection mechanism to cause stations to defer from accessing the wireless medium during a quiet duration. During the quiet duration the access point may transmit data packets to stations. After the quiet duration, a contention period may be present to allow stations to monitor the medium to make sure the medium is continuously idle before attempting a transmission. The access point may determine a quiet duration based on a number of data packets pending transmission to at least one station. Furthermore, the access point may transmit data packets to a number of stations during the quiet duration. By determining the quiet duration based on a number of data packets, the access point may reduce the overall number of contention periods which may increase throughput and decrease power consumption.

Efficient protection of basic service set traffic

Methods, systems, and devices are described for establishing a virtual communication link including at least a first and second physical link between two devices. A single virtual packet queue of a device may receive one or more data packets to be transmitted via the virtual communication link. The single virtual packet queue may attach a virtual sequence number to each of the one or more data packets and send the one or more data packets to one or more of the first or the second physical link according to the assigned virtual sequence numbers. The one or more packets may then be communicated via the first and/or second physical links according to link specific sequence numbers, such as medium access control (MAC) sequence numbers, assigned to the one or more data packets by the first and/or second physical links.

Link aggregation in wireless local area networks

This specification is directed to systems and methods including a communications device for relaying data packets to at least one receiving node, having a host processor for receiving data packets and a target interface for transmitting the packets over a communications medium, wherein the target interface is configured to extract address and traffic class information from a packet and return the packet to the host processor when it is determined a node is unavailable and wherein the host processor is configured buffer the packet in a queue corresponding to the address information and the traffic class information.

System and method for local flow control in a communications device

A method and apparatus are disclosed for increasing the speed with which a number of stations associated with an IBSS network may be synchronized and/or for reducing the number of beacon frame collisions in the IBSS network. For at least some embodiments, the synchronization speed may be increased by allowing STAs having faster clock speeds to broadcast beacon frames more frequently than STAs having slower clock speeds.
