Example implementations relate to management of clusters. A cluster recovery manager may comprise a processing resource; and a memory resource storing machine-readable instructions to cause the processing resource to: adjust, based on a monitored degree of performance of a controller of a controller cluster, a state of the controller to one of a first state and a second state; and reassign a corresponding portion of a plurality of APs managed by the controller periodically to a different controller until the state of the controller is determined to be adjustable to the first state. The reassignment can be triggered responsive to a state adjustment of the controller from the first state to the second state.

Cluster recovery manager to remediate failovers

Example implementations relate to standby controllers for access points (APs). A network controller may comprise a processing resource; and a memory resource storing machine-readable instructions to cause the processing resource to: determine, in response to a first controller in a controller cluster failing, whether a first AP managed by a first controller has been assigned to a standby controller; determine, in response to the first AP managed by the first controller not having a standby controller assigned, a radio frequency (RF) gap as a result of a different controller failing; and based on the size of the RF gap, assign the second controller as a standby controller for the first AP.

Standby controllers for access points

Some examples relate to detecting network link failure. In an example, a determination may be made at a first network device on a network regarding an average round-trip delay time (RTD) between the first network device and a second network device over a given time interval during a given period of time. Then, for the given time interval, a keepalive packet may be sent from the first network device to the second network device at the average RTD of the given time interval for a keepalive time. In response to a determination, by the first network device that there is no acknowledgement of the keepalive packet from the second network device during the keepalive time, a network link between the first network device and the second network device may be identified as failed.

In some examples, a non-transitory machine-readable storage medium having stored thereon machine-readable instructions to cause a computing processor to track a Layer 2 (L2) bit indicating a L2 connectedness between a first user anchor controller (UAC) corresponding to a client device and a second UAC acting as a standby UAC for the first UAC in a controller cluster, and reassign a third UAC to be the standby UAC for the first UAC in response to the L2 bit indicating that the first UAC is not connected to the second UAC in the same L2 network, wherein the first UAC is in the same L2 network as the third UAC.

An example of a system may include a controller to monitor network parameters in a wireless local area network (WLAN), the controller may include a processing resource and a memory resource including instructions executable by the processing resource to analyze network parameters in the WLAN over a period of time, determine a threshold for the network parameters, determine a plurality of time intervals based on an upgrade to be applied to the WLAN, identify when the network parameters of the WLAN are below the determined threshold, and initiate the upgrade to the WLAN when the network parameters are below the determined threshold where the upgrade is performed during one of the plurality of time intervals.

Intelligent upgrades for network devices

In an example, an access point includes a first and second Ethernet port, a processing resource and a memory resource storing machine readable instructions. The machine readable instructions may be to cause the processing resource to create a first communication channel between the access point and a first network zone using the first Ethernet port and to create a second communication channel between the access point and a second network zone using the second Ethernet port. The first and second network zones may be independently configured with respective first and second zone controllers and the first and second communication channels may exist simultaneously.

An example of a system may include a processing resource and a computing device comprising instructions executable by the processing resource to determine an interval based on an amount of time to upgrade a network; determine a series of time windows based on the interval; analyze data traffic in the network over the series of time windows; identify a subset of the series of time windows that are sequential and non-overlapping; and select a particular time window from the subset of the series of time windows to perform an upgrade of the network based on the analyzed data traffic.

An example of a system may include a processing resource and a computing device comprising instructions executable by the processing resource to assign a first radio, operable in a frequency band, of an access point (AP) to a prioritized data zone utilizing the AP; and assign a second radio, operable in the frequency band, of the AP to a plurality of non-prioritized data zones utilizing the AP.

A method is disclosed. The method may comprise identifying a plurality of network devices in a cluster of network devices. In some examples, the method may comprise identifying any virtual local area networks (VLANs) that are enabled on each of the plurality of network devices in the cluster of network devices. In some examples, the method may comprise, for each identified VLAN, determine a set of network devices accessible on a respective VLAN. In some examples, the method may comprise probing the respective VLAN in response to the respective VLAN being accessible by each network device in the cluster of network devices. A network device and a machine-readable medium are also disclosed.

Virtual network probing

A network device is disclosed. The network device comprises a processor. The processor may be obtain information of devices that are connected to the network device and, together with the network device, form a cluster of network devices; obtain, for each network device in the cluster of network devices, a plurality of parameters indicative of the connectivity of the network devices with one another; assign, based on the plurality of parameters, a grouping structure, whereby each network device in the cluster of network devices is assigned to a group according to a common value of the parameters shared by the network device and other network devices in the group; and assign, based on the grouping structure, each network device in the cluster of network devices as either an active device or a backup device, each active device having a corresponding backup device. Each backup device may be in a group which has no overlap with the group of the corresponding active device. A computer-implemented method and a non-transitory machine-readable medium are also disclosed.

Assigning network devices

Example method includes: establishing, by an access point, a first connection to a first controller associated with a first zone; establishing, by the access point, a second connection to a second and different controller associated with a second and different zone; determining, by the access point, that the first zone is preferred over the second zone; receiving, by the access point, an association request from a new client device managed by the first controller; in response to a number of client devices managed by the second controller and associated with the access point exceeding a predefined number, selectively de-authenticating at least one client device managed by the second controller associated with multi-zones; and transmitting, by the access point, an association response to the new client device managed by the first controller to allow the new client device connect to the access point.

Selectively deauthenticating a client device managed by a controller associated with multi-zones

A system is described that includes a first network controller and a second network controller. The first controller operates as a master controller and the second controller operates as a standby controller for a set of access points. Using a set of VRRP advertisements between the first and second controllers, the second controller may (1) determine that the first controller has failed independent of any determination by the access points and (2) send a failover request to the access points. The failover request may cause the access points to use previously established tunnels between the second controller and each of the access points. By transmitting a failover request message from the second controller to the access points upon the detection by the second controller that the first controller has failed and independent of any determination by the access points, the system reduces network access downtime for the access points.
