Examples disclosed herein relate to a method comprising detecting a plurality of port sets between a first networking device with a first plurality of ports and a second networking device with a second plurality of ports, wherein each port set includes a first and second port of the first device having a same available interface rate. The method may comprise determining an interface rate and an operational state for each port set that is available to form a Link Aggregation Group and determining each grouping of port sets between the first and second device, wherein each grouping has at least one port set and each port set in the grouping has a same interface rate. The method may comprise calculating the interface rate for each grouping, determining a group with a highest interface rate from among the groupings and programing ports of the group into the LAG distribution.

Link aggregation group optimization

Examples disclosed herein relate to a method comprising transmitting an ISID VLAN mapping request including a first plurality of ISID VLAN mappings and rejecting a first ISID VLAN mapping belonging to the plurality. The method comprises performing a recovery event, transmitting a mapping request message to the AAC in response to the recovery event and transmitting a second plurality of ISID VLAN mappings including the first ISID VLAN mapping. The method comprises validating first ISID VLAN mapping; and establishing network traffic between the AAS and the AAC for the first ISID VLAN mapping.

Identification mapping for network devices

An example communications device may include physical communication interfaces and processing circuitry. In response to detecting that two of the physical communications interfaces are both connected to a same peer device as one another, the communications device may automatically configure the two interfaces for aggregation into the same link aggregation group. The communications device may then automatically begin negotiations with the peer device for establishment of the first link aggregation group.

Configuration of communication interfaces for link aggregation

A network device determines whether the network device has a local link for a link aggregation group (LAG), and identifies, when the network device has a local link for the LAG, the network device as a designated forwarder for the LAG. The network device also identifies, when the network device does not have a local link for the LAG, a closest network device to the network device, with a local link for the LAG, as the designated forwarder for the LAG.
