Devices, methods, and storage media provide for identifying, by an ad insertion device, at least one prospect for inserting a selected ad via a set of hidden channels during a target programming timeslot based on ad schedules for a plurality of networks; determining based on hidden channel usage data for a programming timeslot corresponding to the target programming timeslot, that a likelihood of availability of at least one hidden channel of the set of hidden channels during the target programming timeslot exceeds a first threshold level; and sending an instruction to an interface device to insert the selected ad via the at least one hidden channel during the target programming timeslot.

Channel usage management in terrestrial distribution systems

Devices, methods, and storage media provide for receiving ad schedules for an upcoming programming timeslot for a network lineup; identifying an opportunity to insert a selected ad via a set of hidden channels during the upcoming programming timeslot based on the ad schedules; retrieving, based on the identifying, stored hidden channel usage data for previous programming timeslots that correspond to the upcoming programming timeslot; determining whether an availability likelihood of a hidden channel during the upcoming programming timeslot exceeds a threshold; retrieving, when the threshold is exceeded, ad insertion collision data for the previous programming timeslots; determining, based on the collision data, whether a likelihood of a collision occurring on the hidden channels during the upcoming programming timeslot exceeds another threshold; and sending, when the other threshold is not exceeded, an instruction to a user interface device to insert the selected ad via the hidden channel during the upcoming programming timeslot.

Disclosed is a system and method for managing web services. The described exemplary system and method provides an infrastructure for managing various aspects of publishing and using web services, such as logging, security, monitoring, SLA management, service level metrics and notification.

An exemplary method includes () receiving a web service request for a particular web service, along with user identification credentials, from a web service subscriber, the request and the credentials being received into a service agent of a web service publisher, () determining whether the credentials are cached in the service agent, and further, whether the credentials are valid, () in response to a determination that the credentials are not cached in the service agent, initiating a security service to authorize the web service subscriber to access the particular web service, () in response to a determination that the credentials are cached in the service agent and are invalid, responding to the web service subscriber with an error message, and () in response to a determination that the credentials are cached in the service agent and are valid, passing the web service request to the particular web service for access.
