An equalizer may use a passive input stage to improve linearity and reduce power consumption. In addition, the equalizer may use two gain circuits, one in a high frequency amplification path and the other in an all-pass path. The relative proportion of all-pass to high frequency amplification may be adjusted using a single control signal. The equalizer may provide 20 dB of peaking at 5 GHz with good linearity, using CMOS technology.

Adaptive equalizer with passive and active stages

An apparatus for equalizing input signals including high and low frequency component signals received at an locus includes: (a) a first signal amplifying circuit coupled with the input locus, blocking the low frequency component signals and amplifying the high frequency component signals by a first gain to present a first amplified signal; the first gain is established by a relationship between at least two resistance elements in the first signal amplifying circuit; (b) a second signal amplifying circuit coupled with the input locus amplifying the input signal by a second gain to present a second amplified signal; and (c) a combining circuit combining the first amplified signal and the second amplified signal to present an output signal representative of the input signal at an output locus.

Apparatus and method for equalizing received signals

An apparatus for effecting high speed switching of a communication signal between a first component and a second component includes: (a) a switching circuit configured for receiving the signal from the first component that includes a plurality of switch elements responding to the signal to produce an interim signal that is substantially a model of the signal; (b) a follower circuit having an input locus coupled with the switching circuit for receiving the interim signal; the follower circuit has an output locus configured for presenting an output signal that is substantially duplicating the interim signal; and (c) a control circuit coupling the follower circuit with the switching circuit and receives a feedback signal from the follower circuit representative of the output signal; the control circuit responds to the feedback signal to effect operation of the switching circuit to control at least one first parameter relating to the interim signal.

Apparatus for effecting high speed switching of a communication signal

Transitions (e.g. high to low and/or low to high) associated with operation of the driver are employed to implement control, which can be applied as a pulse in response to an occurrence of the transition. The control operates to speed up the transition at the output of the driver, such as can reduce driver switching times and enable a corresponding increase in data transmission rates.

System and method to speed-up operation of a driver

A system and method is provided for translating a wide common mode voltage range into a narrow common mode voltage range. The system and method extend the common mode voltage range of functional devices beyond the supply rails of the functional device, while keeping the differential signal loss to a minimum. The system and method translate a common mode input signal from a wide common mode voltage range into a narrow common mode voltage range utilizing a feedback technique.
