Disclosed are methods and systems for bi-directional communication between one or more vehicles and a cloud based computing system. For instance, a method may include processing, by a first digital twin of the cloud based computing system, a first request received from and/or sent to a gateway unit associated with a first vehicle, the request comprising data related to one or more vehicle operations; validating, by an avionics data processing service (ADPS) in communication with the gateway unit, the first request against an operational parameter corresponding to the one or more vehicle operations; upon validating the first request, matching, by the ADPS, the operational parameter with a flight operation; and upon matching the operational parameter with the flight operation, inserting, by the ADPS, a modified flight operation into the flight management system of the vehicle.

Systems and methods for bi-directional communication between one or more vehicles and a cloud based computing system

A computer-implemented method may be used for training aircraft operators. The method may include determining a set of recommended flight training topics for a target aircraft operator, and receiving flight data recorded from simulator training performed by the aircraft operator or operation of aircraft by the aircraft operator. Additionally, the method may include analyzing the flight data to determine a proficiency evaluation, the proficiency evaluation being a measure of proficiency of the aircraft operator in one or more training topics, and adjusting the set of recommended flight training topics based on proficiency evaluation.

Systems and methods for training aircraft operators

Systems and methods are disclosed for evidence-based training of aircraft operators. For example, a computer-implemented method may include: analyzing aircraft flight data indicative of actions performed by an aircraft operator in operating aircraft, to thereby determine an assessment of a performance of the aircraft operator in operating aircraft; based on the assessment, determining a training scenario to be presented to the aircraft operator via a training simulator as part of training for the aircraft operator; providing, to the training simulator, information indicative of the determined training scenario; receiving, from the training simulator, training flight data indicative of actions performed by the aircraft operator during a simulation of the scenario using the training simulator; and based on the training flight data and the assessment, determining an evaluation of the training for the aircraft operator.

Systems and methods for evidence-based training of aircraft operators

Techniques are provided for detecting an intrusion event in a network. At a gateway device in the network, performance parameters of the gateway device are monitored. Steady-state operations are defined based on expected performance of the device parameters. The steady-state operations are compared to the monitored device performance and other context parameters. A hybrid network intrusion detection technique is activated to determine a presence of the intrusion event for known and unknown attacks.

Hybrid intrusion detection model for cyberattacks in avionics internet gateways using edge analytics

An avionics system in an aircraft for providing flight data from an onboard flight management computer (FMC) to requesting applications is disclosed. The system includes a flight management system (FMS) service layer executing on the FMC on a thread separate from a thread that executes FMS core functions. The FMS service layer provides a FMC networked node server for responding to queries from a plurality of external applications for data generated from the FMS core functions without interrupting the FMS core functions. The FMC networked node server is configured to: receive a request from a client application using a server specified API for data elements from a specified input flight plan; retrieve the specified input flight plan from the FMS core functions; extract the requested data elements; and output the requested data elements to the client application without affecting the active thread that executes FMS core functions.

A method for providing cost data for a flight is provided. The method (i) obtains cost target data for the flight, under anticipated conditions; (ii) obtains real-time aircraft performance parameters affecting the actual cost of the flight, using continuous monitoring during the flight, including at least aircraft speed modes, aircraft flight level changes, tactical interventions, weather impact, and descent timing deviations; (iii) determines an actual cost of the flight, based on the real-time aircraft performance parameters affecting the actual cost; (iv) identifies flight plan change options associated with a potential cost savings over the actual cost, wherein the flight plan change options comprise potential modifications to the flight plan to complete the flight; (v) presents the flight plan change options; and (vi) adapts operation of one or more avionics systems onboard the aircraft, based on one of the flight plan change options.

Methods and systems for dynamically determining and adapting to cost impact during a flight

Methods and systems are provided for optimization of an aircraft flight trajectory with shortcuts. The method comprises retrieving an active flight plan stored in a flight management system (FMS) and identifying a potential shortcut with a shortcut advisor tool. The FMS monitors the location of the aircraft with respect to an identified start point of the potential shortcut. Prior to the aircraft's arrival at the identified start point, current key performance indicators (KPI) of the shortcut are evaluated with the shortcut advisor tool. The aircrew is alerted to the potential shortcut along with a preview of the performance of the aircraft upon accepting the potential shortcut. The aircrew may accept the addition of the potential shortcut to the flight plan and request approval of the shortcut by air traffic control (ATC). The active flight plan is updated with the shortcut upon approval from the ATC.

Advisory method and system for flight trajectory optimization

A system for integrating flight crew decision aid applications in an aircraft cockpit includes a touch screen controller (TSC) that comprises a data mining engine configured to mine aircraft data from the already existing avionics interface and a flight plan and trajectory generating engine (FPTGE) configured to retrieve a trajectory request from a requesting flight crew decision aid application, compute one or more theoretical trajectories using the mined aircraft data, and transmit the one or more theoretical trajectories to the requesting flight crew decision aid application. The TSC also comprises a flight crew decision aid application configured to receive a flight crew request for simulated data from a touch screen user interface, generate and transmit one or more requested trajectory requests to the FPTGE, receive data from the one or more theoretical trajectories from the FPTGE, and display the requested simulated data on the touch screen user interface.

System and method for integration of smart trajectory generation and decision aid applications in legacy cockpits

Methods and systems are provided for integrating aircraft flight parameters generated by an offboard portable electronic device (PED) into an onboard flight management system (FMS). The method comprises selecting the aircraft flight parameters to be generated by the PED for use by the FMS. The current flight data is accessed for the aircraft with the FMS and providing the current flight data to the offboard PED. The rules for the aircraft flight parameters are computed with the offboard PED based on the current flight data for the aircraft and transmitted to a flight management (FM) adapter. The FM adapter confirms that the rules for the aircraft flight parameters comply with operational limits of the aircraft and then translates the rules of the aircraft flight parameters to aircraft operational targets for use by the onboard FMS. The aircraft operational targets are then loaded from the FM adapter into the FMS.

Method and system for integrating offboard generated parameters into a flight management system

Systems and methods are disclosed for brokering data exchanges between on-board and off-board systems of a vehicle. One method comprises receiving, at a data broker engine, one or more data requests from an origination system, wherein each of the one or more data requests specifies at least one or more of a request type and a target system. Then the data broker engine determines whether the request type is a one-time transmission, a periodic transmission, an event-triggered transmission, or a change-triggered transmission. Following the determination, the data broker engine retrieves data from the target system based on the determined request type and transmits the data to the origination system.

Systems and methods for alerting trailing aircraft about conditions experienced by a leading aircraft are disclosed herein. The systems and methods include an aircraft lighting system, which includes at least one external aircraft light and a memory module configured to store at least one criterion associated with an aircraft parameter. The systems and methods further include a receiver module operably connected to the memory module which is configured to receive an aircraft parameter. The systems and methods also include a processor module operably connected to the memory module, the receiver module and the at least one external aircraft light, the processor being configured to compare the received aircraft parameter to the stored at least one criterion and is further configured to determine, on the basis of the comparison, whether to cause illumination of the at least one external aircraft light for observance by trailing aircraft.

Methods and systems are provided for providing real-time assessment and analysis for reduced engine taxi operations (RETO) for an aircraft. The method includes retrieving time sensitive data, non-time sensitive data and ground operational data that all affect RETO of the aircraft. This data is collected with an RETO analyzer which applies a predetermined ruleset to determine a RETO recommendation for the aircraft. The recommendation is transmitted to a RETO support module which retrieves historical flight data and cost model and financial model data for the aircraft. The support module then generates and displays RETO alerts, implementation plans and map overlays for the aircraft.

Methods system for real-time assessment and assistance of reduced engine taxi operations for an aircraft

Systems and methods that optimize landing performance are provided. The system determines a number, N, of equipment configurations (a combination of a brake setting and a thrust reverser configuration) supported by the aircraft. The system determines a deceleration airspeed to achieve a target taxi speed and, for each of the N equipment configurations, determines a respective deceleration distance. In various embodiments, the system further updates the deceleration distances by one or more of a brake's condition, aircraft historical data, brake warranty and life cycle data, and environmental conditions. The deceleration distances are used to identify a number P of exit-ways that can be used at the runway. Total costs (including brake usage and fuel cost) for each of the P exit-ways is determined, and the equipment configuration that delivers the lowest total cost delivers the optimize landing performance.

An apparatus and method for receiving and processing weather data and flight plan data is disclosed. A processor is configured to receive flight plan data containing at least a moving path of an aircraft; receive weather data containing at least positional information and weather characteristics; compare the positional information of the weather data with the flight plan data; determine if the weather characteristics impact a predetermined operating condition of the aircraft; compare the impact of the weather characteristics to the operating condition with a predetermined threshold value; and provide an indication signal indicating a section of the moving path of the aircraft where the impact of the weather characteristics to the operating condition exceeds the predetermined threshold value.
