Systems and methods provide steering of roaming (SoR) information during a user equipment (UE) mobility registration process. In other systems and methods, instead of triggering mobility and periodic registration, a UE performs initial registration until a valid SoR is received in a visited country or network as long as a subscriber identification module (SIM) or a universal SIM (USIM) of the UE indicates that the UE is expected to receive SoR information due to initial registration in a visited public land mobile network (VPLMN).

Apparatuses, systems, and methods for a user equipment device (UE) to perform methods for EPS fallback when initiating a voice call while camped on a 5G cell. The UE may camp on a 5G network by performing an IMS registration procedure/IMS SIP invite procedure with an IMS. The UE may initiate a voice call and determine that the voice call cannot be established over the 5G NR network. In response, the UE may perform a TAU procedure or an attachment procedure with a cell of a 4G network. The IMS may be transferred to the 4G network during TAU/attachment procedure. The UE may, in response to determining that it is barred from the 4G network, transition back to the 5G network and transmit, to the 5G NR network, a SIP cancel request to allow a context associated with the UE to be cleared from the IMS.

5G NR voice call EPS fallback enhancements

Techniques discussed herein facilitate configuration of network slices for a User Equipment (UE) supporting constraints on simultaneous operation of slices. Such a technique may comprise: receiving a registration request message to request registration on a set of requested network slices; registering the UE to a set of allowed network slices; and generating a registration accept message for transmission indicating the UE is registered to the set of allowed network slices, wherein the registration accept message indicates slice compatibility information for each allowed network slice of the set of allowed network slices for the UE, wherein the slice compatibility information for each allowed network slice indicates whether or not other configured network slices of a set of configured network slices are compatible with the configured network slice for simultaneous operation by the UE.

The exemplary embodiments describe devices, systems and methods for implementing various exemplary techniques related to fifth generation (5G) new radio (NR) cell search. A user equipment (UE) selects a frequency band to scan during a cell search procedure and identifies a frequency within the frequency band that is associated with a synchronization signal block (SSB) based on an indication of the frequency stored locally at the UE prior to the cell search procedure. The UE then scans the frequency for the SSB and determines that the SSB has been broadcast by a cell over the frequency.

A mapping list is received that includes a mapping of a plurality of public land mobile networks (PLMNs) to corresponding S-NSSAI values. The mapping list is received from a home PLMN (HPLMN) of the UE over non-3rd generation partnership (non-3GPP) access, from a server, or from a Universal Mobile Telecommunications Service (UMTS) subscriber identity module (USIM) of the UE. An available PLMN is determined that is mapped to a preferred S-NSSAI value of the UE based on the mapping list. A connection is established with the available PLMN.

Enhanced network slicing for public land mobile network selection while roaming

Embodiments are presented herein of apparatuses, systems, and methods for mitigation of secondary cell failures. A user equipment (UE) may establish communication with a macro cellular base station. The UE may perform a signal quality measurement of a small cell base station and compare the signal quality measurement to a threshold. Based on the signal quality measurement exceeding the threshold, the UE may attempt to additionally connect to the small cell base station. In response to a radio link failure of the second base station, the UE may modify the first threshold. In response to subsequent failures to additionally connect to the small cell base station using the modified first threshold, the UE may disable connections to the small cell base station.
