A communication device comprises one or more sensors configured to generate sensor data, a wireless interface, and a processor. The wireless interface is configured to establish a connection with a remote device according to a short-range wireless communication protocol and to transmit one or more signals to the remote device, the one or more signals representing information configured according to a media format. The processor is configured to determine at least one activity mode based on the sensor data from the one or more sensors on at least one of the communication device or the remote device, and during the transmission of the one or more signals, control the wireless interface to increase a transmit power level to a maximum transmit power level based on the determined activity mode.

A system for controlling an impedance matching circuitry can include an antenna, a receiving or transmitting circuitry, an impedance matching circuitry, a circuitry, and a controller. The impedance matching circuitry can be coupled between the antenna and the receiving or transmitting circuitry. The circuitry can be configured to set a value of an impedance of the impedance matching circuitry. The controller can be configured to determine, based on a state of an electronic device, that the electronic device is configured to perform one or more functions with one or more of a satellite radio navigation signal at a first or a second frequency, a wireless local area network signal at a third or a fourth frequency, or a personal area network signal at a fifth or a sixth frequency. The controller can be configured to control, in response to a determination of the state of the electronic device, the circuitry.

Controlling impedance matching circuitry

This document describes a passive adapter for wireless charging of an electronic device and associated methods and systems. The described passive adapter includes two coils connected by a capacitor and separated by a core material that prevents mutual coupling between the coils. These two coils may have differing sizes, such that one coil can size-match to a transmitter coil of an existing wireless charger and the second coil can size-match to a smaller (or larger) receiver coil in a wireless-power receiver to charge a battery of the wireless-power receiver. In aspects, these two coils may be separated by a distance that enables the passive adapter to act as a passive repeater by bridging a space between the transmitter coil and the receiver coil.

A Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) device may collect one or more resolvable public identifiers from one or more wireless devices, each of the resolvable public identifiers indicating whether a user associated with a respective one of the wireless devices is a possible virus carrier. The BLE device may generate a timestamp for each of the collected resolvable public identifiers, each timestamp indicating a time at which a corresponding resolvable public identifier was received by the BLE device. The BLE device may share the collected resolvable public identifiers and their corresponding timestamps with a paired device. The BLE device may receive, from the paired device, an indication of whether one or more of the collected resolvable public identifiers is associated with a possible virus carrier. The BLE device may be included within or attached to one of a bracelet, neckless, a belt, watch, a smartwatch, or a key fob.

Wireless contact tracking

This document describes techniques and devices for controlling radar transmissions within a licensed frequency band. In particular, a network is given control over whether or not a user equipmenttransmits a radar signal within at least a portion of one or more licensed frequency bands associated with coverage of the network. With this control, the network can balance the use of the licensed frequency band for wireless communication operations and radar-based applications. The network can further control operations of the user equipments radar system to control an amount of interference that is present within the licensed frequency band. With permission from the network via a radar grant message, the radar system can utilize frequencies within the licensed frequency band for radar-based applications, such as gesture recognition, presence detection, collision avoidance, and so forth.

Methods, systems, and techniques for safely controlling wireless charging in the presence of a foreign object are presented. A method includes determining a power difference between a power transmitted by a wireless charger and a power received by an electronic device, determining a level of misalignment of the electronic device with respect to the wireless charger; estimating an amount of power difference due to the level of misalignment of the electronic device with respect to the wireless charger, adjusting a power difference threshold for the wireless charger based on the estimated amount of power difference, and controlling operation of the wireless charger based on the power difference and the adjusted power difference threshold.

Controlling wireless charging

Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer-storage media, for improving wireless charging. In some implementations, an electronic device determines a power demand of the electronic device. The electronic device includes a wireless power receiver including a wireless power receiving coil configured to receive power through inductive coupling with a wireless charge. The electronic device determines an operating voltage or operating frequency for the wireless charger based on the power demand of the electronic device. The electronic device sends, to the wireless charger, data indicating the operating voltage or operating frequency for the wireless charger.

Wireless charging efficiency

Methods and apparatuses are described in which dynamic voltage and frequency scaling may be used to save power when processing packets in a wireless communications device. In some cases, inframe detection may allow the device to determine whether to transition from a first (e.g., lower) voltage level to a second (e.g., higher) voltage level to process one or more packets of a received frame. For some packet types the first voltage level may be maintained. In other cases, the device may determine a bandwidth to use from among multiple bandwidths supported by the device. The bandwidth may be determined based on channel conditions. A voltage level may be identified that corresponds to the determined bandwidth and a processing voltage may be scaled to the identified voltage level. The device may be configured to operate in wireless local area network (WLAN) and/or in a cellular network (e.g., LTE).

Dynamic voltage and frequency scaling in wireless modems

Methods, systems, and devices are described for power conservation in a wireless communications system. In embodiments, power conservation may be achieved by adaptively controlling power modes of a wireless communication device, using a modulation and coding scheme (MCS) value as a factor for guidance. According to one aspect, the device may be in a reception mode. While in a first power mode, the device may receive control information for incoming data that is being transmitted via a transmission frame. The control information may be located in a first portion of the frame with the data following in a second portion of the frame. The control information may include or otherwise indicate an MCS value corresponding to the MCS applied to the incoming data. Based on the MCS value, the device may be adaptively switched to a second power mode for receiving the incoming data.

Adaptive control of RF low power modes in a multi-rate wireless system using MCS value

Methods, systems, and devices are described for power conservation in a wireless communications system. In embodiments, power conservation may be achieved by adaptively controlling power modes of a wireless communication device, and implementing lower power modes with various modes of the device. According to one aspect, the mode of the device may be a beacon monitoring mode or a delivery traffic indication message (DTIM) mode. In such a mode, the device may receive a portion of a beacon in a first power mode. The device may transition to a second, different (e.g., higher) power mode using information contained in the received portion of the beacon as guidance.

Adaptive control of RF low power modes in a multi-rate wireless system using device mode

A low standby power DC-DC converter can be powered down during standby mode. The DC-DC converter can be periodically awakened between sleep cycles to check if the output voltage needs to be recharged (refreshed). The duration of the sleep cycles can be varied to accommodate for changing load conditions that would affect the output voltage.

This disclosure is directed to a wireless device with a suppressor that couples to the aggressor signal of a frequency source to generate a cancelling signal for suppressing spurs resulting from operation of the frequency source. The amplitude and phase delay of the cancelling signal are adjusted to optimize the cancellation of the spur. Preferably, a calibration routine is performed to establish appropriate delay and amplitude values to cancel the spurs occurring at each device gain setting.

Techniques are disclosed relating to oscillator settling time allowance. In one embodiment, an apparatus may include an oscillator and oscillation detection and control circuitry. The oscillation detection and control circuitry may be configured to awaken an oscillator at a predetermined time and detect an edge transition of oscillations. The oscillation detection and control circuitry may further be configured to measure the time from the power-on indication to edge transition detection. In one embodiment, the oscillation detection and control circuitry may be configured to store the measured time and use the measured time instead of the predetermined time for subsequent oscillator awakenings. In some embodiments, the apparatus may further include circuitry configured to compensate for an expected oscillator settling behavior.

A transceiver for use in a wireless device. The transceiver may include a receive portion for receiving an input RF signal. The receive portion may include at least one receive filter which may include a first filter. The transceiver may also include a transmit portion for transmitting an output RF signal. The transmit portion may include at least one transmit filter, which may include the first filter used in the receive portion. The transceiver may further include a plurality of switches, which may include a first switch coupled to an input of the first filter and a second switch coupled to an output of the first filter. The plurality of switches may be configurable to enable use of the first filter in the receive portion for receiving the input RF signal and use of the first filter in the transmit portion for transmitting the output RF signal.
