A method includes receiving, at a server associated with a merchant, an identification token associated with a mobile device located in a service environment associated with the merchant, and receiving an address of a profile agent associated with and distinct from the mobile device. The identification token includes an opaque token generated by a source other than the mobile device. The method includes sending to the profile agent a request for a user profile associated with the mobile device, where the request includes the identification token, and receiving an opaque user profile responsive to the request. The method includes sending a personalized offer associated with the merchant to the profile agent based on the opaque user profile. The profile agent causes application of preferences and policies associated with the mobile device to the personalized offer to determine whether to forward the personalized offer to the mobile device.

Proxy-based profile management to deliver personalized services

A method includes receiving, at a server associated with a merchant, an identification token associated with a mobile device located in a service environment associated with the merchant. The identification token includes an opaque token generated by a source other than the mobile device. The method includes, receiving an address of a profile agent associated with the mobile device. The profile agent is distinct from the mobile device. The method includes sending to the profile agent, a request for a user profile associated with the mobile device, where the request includes the identification token, and receiving an opaque user profile responsive to the request. The method also includes sending a personalized offer associated with the merchant to the profile agent based on the opaque user profile. The profile agent causes application of preferences and policies associated with the mobile device to the personalized offer to determine whether to forward the personalized offer to the mobile device.

A method and apparatus for delivering IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) services is disclosed. An apparatus that incorporates teachings of the present disclosure may include, for example, a system having an aggregator element that aggregates a number of IMS services, and a presentation element that presents a web page with the aggregated IMS services. Method and apparatus for delivering IP multimedia subsystem services

Methods and apparatus to customize web content using customization services are disclosed. An example method includes accessing, by executing an instruction with a processor of a first server, a first request for web content. The web content resides on the first server and the first request originates from a client device and includes indication of a characteristic of the client device. The method further includes generating, by executing an instruction with the processor of the first server, a second request to transform the web content into modified web content based on the characteristic of the client device. The second request includes a universal resource locator of the web content. The method also includes obtaining the modified web content from a second server in response to the first server transmitting the second request to the second server and transmitting the modified web content, from the first server to the client device.

Web content customization via adaptation web services

Concepts and technologies are disclosed herein for providing, storing, redeeming, and managing promotions. A promotion service can be called to save, manage, or redeem promotions. The promotion service can be called to generate or provide promotions based upon contextual information. The promotion service also can be accessed to save promotions as well as to view or redeem saved promotions. In some implementations, the promotions can be stored in a promotion locker or other data storage device that is accessible to the promotion service. Promotions can be redeemed at a point of sale such as a web site or a physical retailer. In one contemplated embodiment, a user accesses the promotion service via a smart phone, and a bar code or other information associated with the promotion is displayed on the smart phone in response to a user request.

Techniques for linking and browsing media on a television (TV) are provided. A selected program, which is associated with a channel of the TV, is detected and additional content, which is associated with that channel and/or the selected program, is dynamically acquired from one or more external sources. The additional content is formatted as links and simultaneously presented within a display of the TV along with the selected program that continues to play on the TV. Furthermore, activation of any link results in the additional content being dynamically acquired and presented within the display.

Methods and apparatus to provide extended voice over Internet protocol (VoIP) services are disclosed. An example method comprises determining a location of a cellular communication device, and selecting a route for a call to the cellular communication device or to a voice over Internet protocol (VoIP) communication device based upon the location, wherein the VoIP communication device is not implemented by the cellular communication device.

Methods and apparatus to provide extended voice over internet protocol (VoIP) services

A method includes determining, at a communication device, a designation of a source communication device based on information related to a communication from the source communication device. The method further includes selecting, at the communication device and based on the designation, a prompt from multiple prompts. The prompt includes a first prompt in response to the designation being a first designation of multiple designations. The prompt includes a second prompt in response to the designation being a second designation of the multiple designations. The method includes sending the prompt from the communication device to the source communication device.

A third-party profile service based on a proxy server model is described, where a user's profile service resides at a URL, in contrast to a profile service that requires federation identity. A profile service is provided that augments location-based services offered by service providers targeting mobile users via, for example, wireless and Wifi Networks. Additional personalization is driven by identity/profile services. Participants in the scenario are not required to share an identity or profile (i.e., static federation is not required). The user establishes a single profile with a trusted provider, hands-off solicitations to a profile agent that operates on behalf of the user to apply policies and preferences. The agent also provides privacy and anonymity (opaqueness).

Each of a first and second component version for each of a first and second component of a software application are stored. A profile of the client device is determined. The profile includes a programming language requirement for the client device, a processing capability of the client device and a display capability of the client device. Component versions are selected based on the profile of the client device. One of the selected component version for the first component and the second component of the software application is executed by an application server.

Run-time determination of application delivery

A method includes receiving, at a destination communication device, information related to a communication from a source communication device. The method further includes determining, at the destination communication device, a designation of the source communication device based on the information. The method further includes selecting, based on the designation, a prompt from multiple prompts. The method further includes sending the prompt from the destination communication device to the source communication device. The prompt is a request for second information related to urgency of the call.

Methods and apparatus to provide extended voice over Internet protocol (VoIP) services are disclosed. An example residential gateway comprises a radio frequency (RF) detector to detect a presence of a cellular communication device, a service controller to enable a VoIP communication device when the cellular communication device is present, wherein the VoIP communication device and the cellular communication device are different devices.

Web content customization via adaptation web services is disclosed. An example method for providing customized web content comprises accessing a request for web content residing on a web server, the request originating from a client device and the request including an indication of a characteristic of the client device, and transmitting to the client device the modified web content based on a customization requirement associated with the characteristic of the client device, the modified version of the web content obtained by requesting a second server to transform the web content into the modified web content.
