An interference detection system comprises memory storing computer instructions to cause a processor to perform gathering a temporal snapshot of radio parameter values associated with a first site of a point-to-point radio system, the radio parameter values including at least a receive signal level (RSL) value and at least one other radio parameter value correlated with signal degradation; determining whether the RSL value is greater than an RSL threshold; determining whether the other radio parameter value indicates a threshold level of signal degradation; when the RSL is greater than the RSL threshold and the other parameter indicates a threshold level of signal degradation during the temporal snapshot, determining that external interference is present during the temporal snapshot; when the RSL is not greater than the RSL threshold, determining that the external interference is not present; and performing a responsive action to a determination of the external interference being likely present.

Systems and methods for in-line interference detection in point-to-point radio links

An example system comprises a first antenna and a modem. The first antenna is configured to receive a signal from a transmitting radio frequency unit. The signal includes data and a known sequence. The modem is configured to retrieve the known sequence from the signal, transform the known sequence and the data into a frequency domain, calculate averages of groups of neighboring frequency points in the frequency domain to reduce the effect of nonlinear noise in the signal, the neighboring frequency points corresponding to the preamble in the frequency domain, compare the calculated averages to an expected frequency response in the frequency domain, determine a correction filter to apply to the data based on the comparison, apply the correction filter on the data in the frequency domain to create corrected data, transform the corrected data from the frequency domain to the time domain, and provide the data.

Systems and methods for adaptive averaging in frequency domain equalization systems

A receiver may comprise: a symbol receiver configured to receive a first modulated symbol at a first resolution and thereafter a second modulated symbol at a second resolution greater than the first resolution; an output path coupled to the symbol receiver and configured to forward the first modulated symbol; a decision device coupled to the symbol receiver and configured to determine a most probable symbol represented by the first modulated symbol; a phase detector coupled to the decision device and configured to compare the first modulated symbol and the most probable symbol to generate a phase error value; and a phase modifier coupled to the decision device and configured to determine a phase correction value based on the phase error value and to adjust the phase of the second modulated symbol based on the phase correction value.

Carrier recovery aided by pilot symbols carrying information

According to some embodiments, a receiving device: receives a radio frequency (RF) signal from a transmitting device over a wireless channel; performs a channel estimation of the wireless channel based on the RF signal; obtains a direct current (DC) bin measurement based on the channel estimation; determines a direct current (DC) offset correction based on the DC bin measurement; and sending the DC offset correction to the transmitting device via a local transmitter. The transmitting device: receives the DC offset correction information from the receiving device over a first wireless channel; receives data to be transmitted to the receiving device, where the DC offset correction information describing the DC offset correction; applies the DC offset correction to a transient signal that is based on the data; converts the transient signal to an RF signal; and transmits the RF signal to the receiving device over a second wireless channel.
