An overlay of millimeter wave (mmWave)-capable cells are added to a citizens broadband radio service (CBRS) network to provide coverage in a next generation fixed wireless (NGFW) network. The availability of mmWave spectrum, with limited reach, can be utilized as a wireless backhaul for subsequent hops. In one aspect, integrated access front-haul nodes (IAFHNs) that are utilized for mmWave transmissions at a second (and/or subsequent) hop can be deployed with self-aligning receivers. Further, the IAFHNs can facilitate adaptive resource allocation scheduling in an integrated access and backhaul (IAB) chain. In addition, an interface between macro access points can be enhanced to enable the adaptive resource allocation on the IAB chain. In one aspect, a fixed user equipment (UE) can be configured with dual connectivity (DC) and a network operator can offer different tiers of services based on a location of the UE.

Terminal devices can request and receive authorization to transmit on the same channel for which a serving base station that can serve the terminal devices has authorization to transmit. Upon transmit authorization or termination being received from a spectrum administration system, the base station can autonomously update the system information it broadcasts. Thus, terminal devices connected to the serving base station can be informed about the channel that the terminal device should request authorization to transmit on.

Coordination of transmit authorization in a shared spectrum environment for 5G or other next generation network

Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, detecting a triggering event based on a monitoring of utilization of a target cell within a cellular network system. A configuration policy including a handover configuration parameter set is determined, responsive to the triggering event. A target cell of a plurality of neighboring cells of the source cell is identified and a handover procedure of a user equipment from the source cell to the target cell is configured based on the handover configuration parameter set. The source cell provides the handover configuration parameter set to the user equipment connected to the source cell. The user equipment, while connected to the source cell, performs handover measurements from the source cell to the target cell based on the handover configuration parameter set, and a handover of the user equipment from the source cell to the target cell is based on the handover measurements. A virtual neighbor component can create at least one virtual neighbor object and associate the at least one virtual neighbor object with wireless access points. Further, a reselection component can facilitate idle mode reselection between a base station and a wireless access point of the wireless access points based on the at least one virtual neighbor object.

A system that incorporates the subject disclosure may include, for example, monitoring a speed and an acceleration of a mobile communication device in a serving cell of a wireless network where the mobile communication device has a radio resource control connection with the wireless network, and selecting a first mobility speed group from among a plurality of mobility speed groups based on the speed and the acceleration of the mobile communication device, where handover parameter values are assigned to each speed group of the plurality of mobility speed groups, and where the handover parameters and their associated values are utilized for a handover by the wireless network from the serving cell to a target cell. Method and apparatus for managing handovers in a wireless network

A system that incorporates the subject disclosure may include, for example, determining a mobility speed group assignment for a mobile communication device having a radio resource control connection with a wireless network where the mobility speed group assignment is selected from among a plurality of mobility speed groups according to a speed of the mobile communication device, determining a cell size for a serving cell of the wireless network that is providing the radio resource control connection, and selecting a handover policy based on the mobility speed group assignment and the cell size. Further, a reselection component can facilitate idle mode reselection between a base station and a wireless access point of the wireless access points based on the at least one virtual neighbor object.
