Devices, systems, and methods are disclosed for facilitating a wireless transaction by coupling or associating an identifier to a location. The identifier is read, retrieved, or received by a customer's wireless communication device to connect to a POS terminal. Once connected, the wireless communication device sends a location identifier to the POS terminal, so that the POS terminal can associate the wireless communication device with the location. Once an association is established, the POS terminal then presents options. The POS terminal receives selections, and alerts a staff member of selections and the location. In many instances, the POS terminal also adds the selection to a bill or an invoice.

Wireless transactions for enhancing customer experience

Devices, systems and methods are disclosed which relate to securing payments from a mobile communications device. In exemplary embodiments, a mobile communications device communicates with a payment server via a point-of-sale device to conduct a transaction. The mobile communications device uses a client payment logic to send payment information to the point-of-sale device. The point-of-sale device uses a vendor payment logic to forward the payment information to the payment server. The payment server verifies the payment information and sends confirmation to the point-of-sale device.

Secure mobile-based financial transactions

Devices, systems and methods are disclosed which relate to allowing a recipient of a closed-loop gift card to select one of a number of merchants toward which to apply the value. A consumer buys a variable gift card from a service provider for a set amount, pays the service provider that amount, and the service provider holds that amount in escrow. The consumer sends the gift card to a recipient with a predetermined merchant. The recipient receives the gift card and decides to switch the gift card from the predetermined merchant to a desired merchant. The recipient requests the service provider to change the merchant, and the service provider delivers the amount from escrow to the desired merchant. If the recipient does desire to use the predetermined merchant, the recipient contacts the service provider for activation and the service provider transfers the amount to the predetermined merchant.

Flexible mobile gift cards

Systems and methods for handling point-of-sale transactions using a mobile device are provided herein. In one embodiment, a method for providing payment via a mobile device in a transaction for a good or service can include receiving a selection on the mobile device of a transaction account from which to fund payment in a transaction for a good or service. The method can further include generating and sending a notification to a network processing system (NPS). The notification can identify the selected transaction account. The NPS can be configured to associate the selected transaction account with an NPS account for one or more future transactions. The method can further include sending a customer identifier to a point-of-sale (POS) system via a short-range communications medium to complete the transaction. In another embodiment, methods for handling payment in a mobile e-commerce network are provided.

Systems and methods for handling point-of-sale transactions using a mobile device

Devices, systems and methods are disclosed which relate to a smart cover for a mobile communications device. The smart cover includes a housing plate, a secure element coupled to the housing plate, a transceiver in communication with the secure element, and an antenna coupled to the transceiver. The transceiver and the antenna are coupled to the housing plate as well. The housing plate couples to the mobile communications device. A user having a mobile communications device with a smart cover may enter secure areas, pay funds from an account, or anything else requiring positive identification by holding the mobile communications device up to a smart cover reader. The smart cover reader communicates with the smart cover to identify the user. The user may allow others to use the smart cover by decoupling the smart cover from the user's mobile communications device and coupling it to the other's mobile communications device.

Devices, systems and methods for identification through a mobile device

Devices, systems and methods are disclosed which relate to executing a transaction at a point-of-sale device using a mobile device. In exemplary embodiments the mobile device reads an identifier from the point-of-sale device through wireless technology such as RFID. The identifier is an IP address, serial number, telephone number, etc. The mobile device prompts the user to input the amount of the sale, a payment method, and an authorization code. Once input, the mobile device sends the information along with the identifier to a payment server which verifies the information. Once verified, the payment server notifies the point-of-sale device that the amount has been transferred. The point-of-sale device prints a receipt for the customer or sends it back through the network to the mobile device.

Devices, systems and methods for wireless point-of-sale

An apparatus is provided that includes a processor mounted on a battery pack and a communication pathway from the processor to an electronic device comprising power battery contacts. The apparatus also includes an antenna mounted on the battery pack and coupled to the processor and adapted to transmit and receive data. A method is provided that includes installing an integrated chip including a processor and an antenna on a battery pack. The method also includes coupling the integrated chip and an electronic device when the battery pack is installed in the electronic device using power battery contacts. A high frequency signal superimposed on a direct current carried through the power battery contacts operates to send data between the processor and the electronic device.

Apparatus and method for integrating a transmitting device and a battery pack

Devices and systems are disclosed which relate to enabling NFC communication on devices such as an iPhone. A traditional smart card tray is modified to include contact leads from the inside of the smart card tray to an exterior surface of the smart card tray. Exposed contacts on the external surface provide an outside interface for add-ons. An exemplary add-on is an NFC circuit coupled to or embedded within a mobile device skin. The skin fits snugly around a portion of the mobile device, and includes on one surface contact points that line up with the outside interface of the mobile device. The contact points provide electrical communication between NFC circuitry of the mobile device skin and the smart card within the mobile device. When the skin is worn on the mobile device, the mobile device is NFC enabled. When the skin is removed, the NFC is no longer available.

Devices, systems and methods are disclosed which relate to a smart cover for a mobile communications device. The smart cover includes a housing plate, a secure element coupled to the housing plate, a transceiver in communication with the secure element, and an antenna coupled to the transceiver. The transceiver and the antenna are coupled to the housing plate as well. The housing plate couples to the mobile communications device to provide protection for electronics in the mobile communications device, to make the mobile communications device more aesthetically pleasing, etc. A user having a mobile communications device with a smart cover may enter secure areas, pay funds from an account, or anything else requiring positive identification. The user holds the mobile communications device up to a smart cover reader. The smart cover reader communicates with the smart cover to identify the user. The user may allow others to use the smart cover by decoupling the smart cover from the user's mobile communications device and coupling it to the other's mobile communications device.
