The compound according to the invention is a compound of formula (1) AWMOO, wherein A is chosen from the group comprising the Li, Na, NH, K and H cations, and it is characterized in that x and y verify the relationships 0&#x2264;x&#x2264;1 and 0&#x2264;y&#x2264;0.5, and in that it has a crystalline structure of the hexagonal type with a base of WOoctahedra, said structure having tunnels delimited by 6, 4 and 3 of said octahedra and oriented along the axis c.

Tungsten oxide-type compound having a new crystalline structure and method for preparing same

The invention relates to a novel form of titanium oxide. The titanium oxide is characterized in that it has the crystallographic structure of rutile with an orthorhombic lattice and a Pnmm space group, it has a platelet morphology, the platelets being of rectangular shape with a length between 3 and 10 nm, a width between 3 and 10 nm and a thickness of less than 1 nm and it has a specific surface area, determined by nitrogen adsorption/desorption, of 100 to 200 m/g. Applications: self-cleaning glazing, photovoltaic cells.
