A head wrap has a main portion and elongate portion that receives at least part of a person's head. A strap extends from the elongate portion and has a free end. Attachments on the main portion, elongate portion and strap are used to secure the head wrap after being wrapped around a person's head.

A hair straightening and styling appliance includes a first elongated member having a first heating plate and a second elongated member having a second heating plate, the second heating plate facing the first heating plate, the second elongated member being hingedly connected to the first elongated member allowing for the first heating plate and the second heating plate to be opened and closed away from and toward each other, respectively. The hair straightening and styling appliance has a teardrop cross-section when the first heating plate and the second heating plates are closed towards each other.

The plurality of light emitting elements are light emitting diodes that emit light having a wavelength between about 620 to about 750 nm. A cross-sectional area of the mandrel at the proximal end is greater than the cross-sectional area of the mandrel at the distal end.
