A backlight unit and a display device having the same are provided. A backlight unit includes at least one light source, at least one reflector disposed to enclose the at least one light source, a reflective sheet arranged under the reflector and a diffusion sheet arranged over the reflector, wherein the at least one reflector has at least one of cross sections shaped like an ellipse and a parabola, and has a reflective layer formed on an inner side thereof.

Backlight unit and display apparatus thereof

A display device includes a display panel including a front substrate and a back substrate, a back cover disposed in the rear of the display panel, and a transparent cover including a portion disposed in the front of the front substrate of the display panel. The transparent cover contains a resin material having transmission capable of transmitting light. The transparent cover is separated from a front surface of the front substrate by a predetermined distance, and an air layer is formed between the transparent cover and the front surface of the front substrate.

Display apparatus

A backlight unit and a display device having the same are provided. The backlight unit includes a light source, a reflector arranged on and under the light source to totally reflect at least a part of light emitted from the light source in a lateral direction, a reflective sheet arranged under the reflector, and a diffusion sheet arranged on the reflector.

Backlight unit and display device

A backlight unit is provided that comprises a first layer, a plurality of light sources on the first layer, a reflection layer on the first layer, the reflection layer surrounding the plurality of light sources, a second layer on the reflection layer and the plurality of light sources, and a third layer on the second layer, the third layer comprising a plurality of light shielding patterns arranged to correspond to the light sources, respectively, and a light transmitting region surrounding the plurality of light shielding patterns, wherein the light transmitting region includes first regions adjacent to the light sources and second regions away from the light sources, and wherein the first regions are smaller in area than the second regions. A display apparatus comprising the backlight unit is provided as well.

Backlight unit and display apparatus comprising the same

A backlight unit and display device are discussed. According to an embodiment, a light generating device includes an array of light source devices disposed on a substrate and including first and second light source devices forming a first line, the first and second light source devices spaced apart from each other with a first distance and configured to emit light in a first direction; another array of light source devices disposed on the substrate and including third and fourth light source devices forming a second line, the third and fourth light source devices spaced apart from each other with a third distance and configured to emit light in a second direction which is different from the first direction, the second line being spaced apart from the first line so that the first light source device is spaced apart from the third light source device with a second distance therebetween.

According to an embodiment of the present invention, a display device includes a backlight unit that is divided into a plurality of blocks and is driven by the divided blocks, and includes at least one optical assembly, a display panel positioned over the backlight unit, a controller that outputs local dimming values corresponding to brightness of the blocks of the backlight unit, in accordance with an image displayed in the display panel, and a BLU driver that controls brightness of the blocks of the backlight unit using the local dimming values.

Display device

A backlight unit and a display device including the backlight unit are discussed. According to an embodiment, a light generating device comprising: a first layer; light source devices disposed on the first layer and configured to emit light; a reflection layer disposed on the first layer and configured to reflect the light emitted from the light source devices; a second layer covering the light source devices and the reflection layer; a diffusion layer disposed on the second layer and configured to diffuse the light emitted from the light source devices; and an auxiliary layer having light shielding members placed between the second layer and the diffusion layer, the auxiliary layer being separated from the second layer so as to create an air space between a surface of the second layer and surfaces of the light shielding members, the air space extending along the light source devices.

A light emitting device is disclosed. The light emitting device includes a reflective layer, a plurality of light emitting components disposed on the reflective layer, and a resin layer formed on the plurality of light emitting components and the reflective layer.

Light emitting device

A backlight unit and a display device including the backlight unit are discussed. According to an embodiment, a light generating device comprising: arrays of light source devices arranged on a first layer and including a first light source device and a second light source device configured emit light in opposite directions, at least one of the first and second light source devices including: a housing having inclined inner walls that define a cavity, a light emitting diode disposed in the cavity and configured to generate the light, and at least one material filled in the cavity; a reflection layer disposed on the first layer and configured to reflect the light emitted from the light source devices; and a second layer covering the light source devices and the reflection layer.

The present invention relates to a display device, which includes: a backlight unit that is divided into a plurality of blocks, is driven for each divided block, and includes at least one optical assembly; a display panel disposed on the upper side of the backlight unit; a controller that outputs a local dimming value for each block corresponding to brightness of each block of the backlight unit according to images displayed on the display panel; and a BLU driver that controls the brightness of the blocks of the backlight unit by using the local dimming value for each block, wherein the optical assembly includes a first layer; a plurality of light sources that is formed on the first layer to emit light; a second layer that is disposed on the upper side of the first layer and is formed to cover the plurality of light sources; and a reflective layer that is disposed between the first and second layers, and the BLU driver receives the local dimming value for each block to output the plurality of driving signals, and the blocks of the backlight unit are divided into a plurality of scan groups and is driven in the divided group unit.
