Disclosed is an antenna element in which dual orthogonal feed ports connected to a radiating element are configured to perform angular rotation feeding without using a mechanical phase shifter, an array antenna employing the antenna element, and an operating method of the array antenna. The antenna element comprises a driving radiating element formed on one side of a circuit board and having multi-feed ports, a ground plane element formed on the other side of the circuit board; multi-feed via holes formed in the ground plane element to correspond to the multi-feed ports, multi-feed via pins inserted into each of the multi-feed via holes, and a reconfigurable feed circuit configured to control a radiation pattern of the driving radiating element by applying feed signals for dual orthogonal channels having a phase difference of 90° to two feed ports selected from among the multi-feed ports.

The present invention relates to a general active array antenna apparatus capable of environmentally and temporally controlling radio frequency (RF) polarization resource necessary for wireless communication in order to improve communication quality and increase communication capacity. The antenna according to the present invention has a form of an active array antenna element, wherein each active array antenna element has a structure in which it may generate orthogonal dual polarizations and includes two input terminals and output terminals. An end orthogonal dual polarization antenna is connected to a polarization control apparatus that may process analog or digital signals, and the polarization control apparatus is controlled by or communicate with an antenna main controlling apparatus performing a polarization control algorithm. Ultimately, an object of this antenna apparatus is to improve communication quality and increase communication capacity.

Dual polarization antenna and method for transmitting and receiving signal using the same

A wireless communication method and apparatus using adaptive transmission polarization control are provided. The wireless communication apparatus includes an orthogonal polarization antenna, a channel state estimator, and a transmission polarization state (TPS) selector. The orthogonal polarization antenna receives at least one reference signal. The channel state estimator estimates a wireless polarization channel on the basis of the reference signal. The TPS selector selects a TPS corresponding to the estimated wireless polarization channel from among a plurality of predefined TPSs, and feeds back the selected TPS information. Accordingly, the wireless communication apparatus feeds back information for polarization control using minimum uplink wireless resources, and maximizes a transmission capacity on the basis of the feedback information.

The present invention relates to base station transmitting and receiving antennas and control methods thereof. For this purpose, the present invention provides a control method of a base station transmitting antenna. The control method includes collecting positional information and transmission level values of all terminals in a cell; analyzing statistics of cell traffic using the positional information and transmission level values, and generating antenna radiation patterns on the basis of the analyzed statistics result; optimizing the antenna radiation patterns by synthesizing beam patterns; and changing antenna beam patterns according to the optimized antenna radiation patterns. According to embodiments of the present invention, it is possible to increase a channel capacity in a cell, ensure the QoS in all terminals in the cell, and reduce installation and operation costs of a base station system.
