A rechargeable power module (RPM) may include a rechargeable energy storage device such as a battery or capacitor, a charging circuit, a direct-current (DC) to DC converter, a low drop-out (LDO) voltage regulator and a controller. The charging circuit provides the rechargeable energy storage device with a charging current based on power requirements of device under test and the state of charge, or storage, of the energy storage device.

An impulse generation circuit is provided for generating an impulse using a transmission line. Impulse characteristics of the impulse generation circuit are varied with the length of a transmission line rather than the characteristic variation of various devices used therein. The length of the transmission line is adjusted, such that a width of a generated pulse is adjusted. Because an end of the transmission line is short-circuited, the transmission line length can be easily adjusted on a substrate, and a ringing phenomenon due to re-reflection can be removed using termination impedance.

Impulse generation circuit

An impulse generator including first and second differentiators coupled in parallel to each other, for generating impulses by differentiating a clock signal, and first and second switches for transiting on and off the first and second differentiators respectively to selectively output the impulses generated by the first and second differentiators, and varying polarity of the impulses by changing a direction of a current flowing through load. Accordingly, the negative and positive impulses are selectively output according to the circuit state, reliability of the impulses is improved, and power consumption is reduced.
