Disclosed is a lyocell multi-filament for a tire cord and a method of producing the same. The method includes i) dissolving mixed powder of cellulose and polyvinyl alcohol in a mixed solvent of N-methyl morpholine N-oxide and water to prepare a dope, ii) extruding the dope using a spinning nozzle including orifices through air gaps into a conical upper coagulation bath to solidify the dope to produce a multi-filament, iii) feeding the multi-filament through a lower coagulation bath to a washing bath, and washing the multi-filament, and iv) drying and oiling the washed multi-filament and winding the resulting multi-filament. At this time, the orifices each have a diameter (D) of 100 to 300 &#x3bc;m, a length (L) of 200 to 2400 &#x3bc;m, and a ratio of the length to the diameter (L/D) of 2 to 8, and are spaced apart from each other at intervals of 2.0 to 5.0 mm. The method provides a lyocell multi-filament having excellent physical properties useful as a tire cord, thereby producing a tire for an automobile having improved driving stability, dimensional stability, and uniformity using the tire cord.

Disclosed is a process of producing a highly homogeneous cellulose solution, in which a mixture of powdered cellulose with polyvinyl alcohol powder is fed in conjunction with concentrated liquid NMMO into a kneader or an extruder to produce the highly homogeneous cellulose solution, or into the kneader to produce a swollen cellulose/polyvinyl alcohol paste and the paste thus produced is moved into the extruder to produce the highly homogeneous cellulose solution. The cellulose solution is extruded through a nozzle into a cellulose fiber. The process is advantageous in that the highly homogeneous cellulose solution can be rapidly and inexpensively produced because the cellulose solution is produced without a vacuum distillation step or separate swelling step, and formation of fibrils is prevented, thereby cellulose fibers with excellent flexibility and strength are produced from the cellulose solution.

Disclosed is a radial tire for an automobile, in which lyocell having a dry/wet tenacity ratio S1/S2 of 1.2 to 1.6, a tensile strength at high temperature/a tensile strength at room temperature ratio S3/S4 of more than 0.8, and a shrinkage E of less than 0.01 is applied to a carcass part, thereby a resistance to fatigue and dimensional stability in running of a tire are improved.
