The first pads are spaced apart from each other by a first width. The second pads are spaced apart from each other by a second width more than the first width.

A display device with an integrated touch screen panel includes upper and lower substrates each divided into a display area and a non-display area, which is provided outside of the display area and includes a sealing area. Pixels may be formed in the display area between the upper and lower substrates. A black matrix is formed on a bottom surface of the upper substrate and disposed in the display area and the non-display area. The black matrix is open in the sealing area. Sensing patterns may be formed in the display area on a top surface of the upper substrate. Sensing lines may be formed in the non-display area on the top surface of the upper substrate and connected to the sensing patterns along a first or second direction. A light-shielding pattern is formed to cover the sealing area of the non-display area on the top surface of the upper substrate.

A touch screen panel including: a transparent substrate that incorporate a display region and a non-display region; first sensing patterns that are arranged in a first direction and include first sensing cells and first connection parts; second sensing patterns that are arranged in a second direction and include second sensing cells and second connection parts; an insulating layer that is formed on each of the second connection parts in an island shape; the second sensing cells contact the ends of exposed second connection parts; a plurality of first sensing cells that are arranged on the display region in the first direction intersecting with the second direction; connection parts that connect the adjacent first sensing cells to each other; and metal patterns that are formed in the non-display region and are connected to each of the sensing cells disposed at the ends of the display region.

A liquid crystal display with an integrated touch screen panel is disclosed. According to some aspects, conductive patterns or conducting patterns provided to the LCD are used as driving electrodes of the touch screen panel. A driving electrode of the touch screen panel may be formed on one surface of a polarizing plate or window attached to the LCD so as to be positioned close to a contact point, thereby improving touch sensitivity.

A passivation layer is formed by coating a flowable insulating material on the substrate where a thin film transistor and a storage capacitor electrode, and a pixel electrode is formed on the passivation layer. A portion of the passivation layer is etched using the pixel electrode as a mask to make a groove on the thin film transistor, and then a black matrix is formed by filling an organic black photoresist in the groove. To increase the storage capacitance, a portion of the passivation layer is removed or to form a metal pattern on the storage capacitor electrode. A flowable insulating material is used as a gate insulating layer to planarize the substrate. In the case of the etch stopper type thin film transistor, a photo definable material is used as the etch stopper layer to reduce the parasitic capacitance between the gate electrode and the drain electrode.

Disclosed are a transreflective type LCD and a method of manufacturing the same. A color filter substrate is formed with a light transreflective member for reflecting an external light or transmitting an artificial light and a visual angle increasing member for increasing the visual angle of the light from the light transreflective member. A thickness of a color filter varies to obtain a uniformity of the light from the light transreflective member regardless of the transmissive and the reflective modes. The light from the light transreflective member is provided through a TFT substrate to a user as an image.

A liquid crystal display device that reduces the likelihood of liquid crystal misalignment and driving errors is presented. The liquid crystal display device also improves color reproductively. The device includes a first substrate, and second substrate, and a liquid crystal layer placed between the first substrate and the second substrate. The first substrate includes a gate line and a data line that define a pixel region, a thin film transistor provided at an intersection area of the gate line and the data line, an organic film formed on the thin film transistor and having a depressed portion, a reflective film formed on the organic film, a black matrix, a color filter layer formed in the pixel region, and a pixel electrode formed on the color filter layer. The color filter layer has a different thickness in the depressed portion than in the rest of the pixel region.
