Systems and techniques are described for a centralized management system operating within a virtual machine which configures, monitors, analyzes, and manages an adaptive private network (APN) to provide a discovery process that learns about changes to the APN through a network control node (NCN) that is a single point of control of the APN. The discovery process automatically learns a new topology of the network without relying on configuration information of nodes in the APN. Network statistics are based on a timeline of network operations that a user selected to review. Such discovery and timeline review is separate from stored configuration information. If there was a network change, the changes either show up or not show up in the discovery process based on the selected time line. Configuration changes can be made from the APN VM system by loading the latest configuration on the APN under control of the NCN.

Methods and apparatus for providing adaptive private network centralized management system discovery processes

Techniques are described to automatically activate and deactivate standby backup paths in response to changing bandwidth requirements in an adaptive private network (APN). The APN includes one or more regular active wide area network (WAN) links in an active mode and an on-demand WAN link in a standby mode. The on-demand WAN link is activated to supplement the conduit bandwidth when an available bandwidth of the conduit falls below a pre-specified trigger bandwidth threshold and the conduit bandwidth usage exceeds a usage threshold of a bandwidth of the conduit that is being supplied by the active paths (BWc). The on-demand WAN link is deactivated to standby mode when an available bandwidth of the conduit is above the pre-specified trigger bandwidth threshold and the conduit bandwidth usage drops below the usage threshold of BWc techniques for adaptive and active bandwidth testing of WAN links in an APN are also described.

Adaptive private network (APN) bandwidth enhancements

Systems and techniques are described for a path maximum transmission unit (MTU) discovery method that allows the sender of IP packets to discover the MTU of packets that it is sending over a conduit to a given destination. The MTU is the largest packet that can be sent through the network along a path without requiring fragmentation. The path MTU discovery method actively probes each sending path of each conduit with fragmentation enabled to determine a current MTU and accordingly increase or decrease the conduit MTU. The path MTU discovery process is resilient to errors and supports retransmission if packets are lost in the discovery process. The path MTU discovery process is dynamically adjusted at a periodic rate to adjust to varying network conditions.

One method occurs at a first network node in a service provider network for providing at least one service to multiple tenants. The method includes generating, using input from an administrator of the service provider network, user configuration information for a first tenant; sending, to the first tenant, at least some of the user configuration information; receiving, from the first tenant, first configuration information for configuring a first conduit for tunneling communications between the service provider network and a first site associated with the first tenant's SD-WAN; configuring, using the first configuration information, the first conduit, wherein the first network node is associated with a plurality of conduits, wherein a second conduit of the plurality of conduits is at least in part configured by a second tenant and not the first tenant; and tunneling, via the first conduit, communications between the service provider network and the first site.

Methods, systems, and computer readable media for providing a multi-tenant software-defined wide area network (SD-WAN) node

Adaptive private network (APN) bandwith enhancements

Techniques are described which apply a method for including a routing stack to provide a timely way to dynamically learn about route changes for an end to end system in the context of an adaptive private network (APN). By allowing learned routes to be assigned different services based on filtering rules, the APN can efficiently manage traffic through the WAN. Techniques for learning routes and to advertise the learned routes in different networks are also described. Upon an APN route change being detected in the APN, a route table is updated with the APN route change, wherein the route table contains routes in a local area network (LAN) and routes in a wide area network (WAN). The APN route change is selected from the route table and configured to a protocol for the LAN. The selected APN route change is advertised in the protocol to local routers in the LAN.

Methods and apparatus for accessing dynamic routing information from networks coupled to a wide area network (WAN) to determine optimized end-to-end routing paths

Techniques and articles of manufacture are provided comprising computer readable programs that, when executed on the computer, cause the computer to delete a leaf from a patricia tree having leaf keys and pattern search control blocks containing a prefix and either an end-of-trail leaf or a pointer to another of the pattern search control blocks, by placing each of the prefixes in a tree prefix table; searching for a key in the tree; searching for the key in the prefix table if the tree searching does not find the key in the tree; confirming that the key is deleted if the key is not found in the prefix table; deleting the key from one of the pattern search control blocks; and collapsing the patricia tree by eliminating the left most pattern search control block from the patricia tree if the patricia tree searching finds the key.

Deleting leaves in tree table structures

A technique is provided to delete a leaf from a Patricia tree having a direct table and a plurality of PSCB's which decode portions of the pattern of a leaf in the tree without shutting down the functioning of the tree. A leaf having a pattern is identified as a leaf to be deleted. Using the pattern, the tree is walked to identify the location of the leaf to be deleted. The leaf to be deleted is identified and deleted, and any relevant PSCB modified, if necessary. The technique also is applicable to deleting a prefix of a prefix.

Method and structure for deleting leaves in tree table structures

A technique is provided to either insert or delete a leaf in a Patricia tree having a direct table and a plurality of PSCB's which decode portions of the pattern of a leaf in the tree without shutting down the functioning of the tree. A leaf having a pattern is identified as either a leaf to be inserted or deleted. Using the pattern, the tree is walked once to identify the location of the leaf to be deleted or the location where the leaf is to be inserted. If it is a delete operation, the leaf to be deleted is identified and deleted, and any relevant PSCB modified, if necessary. If it is an insert operation, the tree is walked a second time to insert the leaf and reform or create any PSCB in the chain that needs to be reformed or created. The technique also is applicable to inserting or deleting a prefix of a prefix.
