A method for generating encoded depth data includes receiving digital fringe projection (DFP) data corresponding to a three-dimensional structure of a physical object, and generating first and second fringe encodings for a first predetermined wavelength based on the DFP data at a first coordinate. The method further includes generating third and fourth fringe encodings for a second predetermined wavelength based on the DFP data at the first coordinate, the second wavelength being longer than the first wavelength, and generating a combined fringe encoding based on the third fringe encoding and the fourth fringe encoding. The method further includes storing the first, second, and combined fringe encoding data in a pixel of two-dimensional image data at a pixel coordinate in the two-dimensional image data corresponding to the first coordinate.

Method and system for multi-wavelength depth encoding for three- dimensional range geometry compression

The disclosure provides an improvement to digital fringe projection techniques in which the optimal focal length settings are automatically determined for reconstructing a 3D profile. In a pre-calibration phase, geometric parameters of the system are calibrated using a few discrete focal length settings. These discretely calibrated geometric parameters are fitted onto a continuous function model. In a 3D autofocusing phase, a set of optimal focal length settings for a scene are determined using a 2D autofocusing technique. Calibrated geometric parameters for each optimal focal length setting are automatically calculated using the continuous geometric parameter model. Finally, a 3D profile of objects in the scene is reconstructed using the calibrated geometric parameters for each optimal focal length setting.

Method and system for automatic focusing for high-resolution structured light 3D imaging

A microrobot is disclosed. The microrobot includes a magnet configured to provide a motive force when magnetic force of one or more electrical coils act upon the magnet, a support member coupled to the magnet, a thermo-responsive polymer member coupled to each end of the support member at a proximal end, the thermo-responsive polymer member configured to articulate when heated, wherein the thermo-responsive polymer members configured to receive light from a microrobot structured light system and convert the received light into heat.

A method and system are disclosed that can rapidly and automatically determine the optimal exposure time for high-quality three-dimensional (3D) shape measurement with digital fringe projection technique. The method only requires capturing a fringe pattern image with one exposure time to automatically determine a single global optimal exposure time for high quality 3D shape measurement. The method can be extended to automatically determine a plurality of optimal exposure times for HDR image capture.

Method and system for automatic exposure determination for high- resolution structured light 3D imaging

A method of processing data includes obtaining, by an encoding medium, the data of at least one of a geometry information or a texture information of a target. The method additionally includes converting, by the encoding medium, the geometry information into a plurality of periodical functions. Additionally, converting, by the encoding medium, the texture information into a second 2-D representation. Further, the method includes converting, by the encoding medium, each periodical function of the plurality of periodical functions and the second 2-D representation into an image. Moreover, the method includes decoding, by a decoding medium, the image into a 3-D representation using a transformation.
