There are provided a spindle motor and a hard disk drive including the same. The spindle motor includes a shaft fixedly installed on a base member and including an upper thrust member, a sleeve rotatably supported by the shaft, a hub extended from the sleeve in an outer diameter direction, and a sealing cap mounted on the hub, wherein the upper thrust member and the sleeve or the hub include a liquid-vapor interface formed therebetween, wherein a gap between facing surfaces of the sealing cap and the upper thrust member in the axial direction is narrow enough to form a labyrinth seal, and wherein the sealing cap includes a curved part curved so that a gap between the sealing cap and the upper thrust member at a portion of the sealing cap facing the upper thrust member in the axial direction is varied in a radial direction.

There is provided a pulling plate for a spindle motor, the pulling plate including: a body having a circular ring shape; and a plastic deformation part protruding upwardly from the body and plastically deformed when being mounted. Since the pulling plate is installed in the base member by deforming the plating deformation part, a coupling strength between the pulling plate and the base member may be improved. In addition, since the pulling plate may be installed in the base member only through the deformation of the plastic deformation part, an amount of deformation may be reduced. Further, contamination generated in the case that the puling plate clips the base member may be reduced as compared to a case in which the entire pulling plate is press-fitted into the base member.

Disclosed herein is a scanner motor. The scanner motor includes a rotating shaft which is axially supported and rotatable, and a bearing which has the shape of a hollow cylinder. The bearing includes a hydrodynamic bearing portion provided on the upper portion of the bearing to rotatably support the rotating shaft, and an oil impregnated sintered bearing portion provided on the lower portion of the bearing.

Scanner motor

Disclosed herein is a scanner motor. The motor includes a base plate supporting the scanner motor, with a circuit board mounted on the base plate. A rotating shaft supports the scanner motor vertically in such a way that the scanner motor is rotatable. A bearing is rotatably fitted over the rotating shaft. A bearing holder holds the bearing. A stator is mounted to an outer circumference of the bearing holder to generate electricity. A rotor case is rotatably fitted over the rotating shaft so as to mount a polygon mirror. Three semicircular protrusions protrude from an upper portion of the rotor case at regular intervals to stably support the polygon minor. A concave part is formed between the protrusions to absorb external stress.

Disclosed herein is a scanner motor. The scanner motor includes a rotor case for mounting a magnetic disc or polygon mirror thereon. A rotating shaft is rotatable and axially supports the rotor case. A hollow cylindrical bearing rotatably supports the rotating shaft. A bearing holder is mounted to the outer circumference of the bearing to support it. A stator is mounted to the outer circumference of the bearing holder to form an electric field which rotates the rotor case. A housing shaft is fitted over the outer circumference of the rotating shaft, seated on the rotor case, and coupled at its outer circumference to the polygon mirror. A hole is formed in the housing shaft, absorbs stress occurring during welding, and reduces variation in levelness of the polygon mirror. A coupling part couples the edge of the hole with the polygon mirror.
