A display apparatus includes a base substrate, a pixel electrode, a plurality of capsular structures, a common electrode and a plurality of color filters. The base substrate includes a plurality of unit pixel regions. Each of the unit pixel regions has a plurality of sub pixel regions. A pixel electrode is formed in each of the sub pixel regions. A plurality of capsular structures is disposed on the base substrate. Each of the capsular structures is formed in each of the unit pixel regions and having a cavity. A common electrode is formed on the capsular structures. A plurality of color filters is formed on the capsular structures. Each of the color filters is formed in each of the sub pixel regions. An opening ratio of the sub pixel regions and light transmittance are relatively high.

Display apparatus and method of manufacturing the same

An electrophoretic display device according to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention includes: a lower substrate; an upper substrate; a thin film transistor disposed on the lower substrate; a pixel electrode connected to the thin film transistor; an electronic ink layer positioned between the lower substrate and the upper substrate; a plurality of partitions disposed on the upper substrate; a reflecting layer disposed on the partitions; a color filter disposed between the partitions.

Electropheretic display device and method for manufacturing the same

An electrophoretic display device has a first substrate that defines a plurality of sub-pixel areas; with shaped pixel electrodes formed in the sub-pixel areas. A second substrate is attached in facing relation to the first substrate during mass production. The second substrate has color filters of different colors (e.g., R, G, B). The areas of the color filters are less than the areas of their corresponding sub-pixel electrodes so as to thereby avoid or reduce a color mixture effect that may arise from mass production misalignment between the first and second substrates. In one class of embodiments, area consumed by the color filters is less than about 75% but more than about 45% of area consumed by respective pixel areas. Each pixel area comprises a white (W) sub-pixel area in addition to the differently colored sub-pixel areas (e.g., R, G, B).

Electrophoretic display device having improved color gamut

A flat panel display device displays an image using a micro-shutter electrode and a diffusive reflection layer. The display device has a wide viewing angle and reduces a loss of light to thus improve light efficiency. In addition, gray levels can be determined by an electrostatic force between the pixel electrode and the micro-shutter electrode. An opening/closing operation of the micro-shutter electrode is fast so that the response speed can be improved.

First color pixels having a white color and second color pixels having a color different from that of the first color pixels are aligned in each pixel area in the form of a matrix. A thin film transistor array panel is provided according to one or more embodiments. In an embodiment, the thin film transistor array panel includes: a base substrate that has a display area and a peripheral area; a plurality of thin film transistors that are formed in the display area; a plurality of signal input pads that are formed in the peripheral area and that are formed long in a first direction; and a plurality of signal lines that are connected to the thin film transistors and the signal input pads, wherein at least a part of each of the plurality of signal input pads is arranged in a line along the first direction.

Display apparatus with color pixels

Disclosed are electrophoretic particles, a method of preparing the same, and an electrophoretic display using the same. The electrophoretic particle includes a coating layer, which includes a co-polymer of styrene and heterocyclic compound, and a pigment surrounded by the coating layer. The method includes polymerizing styrene on a surface of the electrophoretic particle and polymerizing styrene and a heterocyclic compound. The electrophoretic display includes the electrophoretic particles.
