A display apparatus includes a plurality of light emitting devices arranged in row and column directions, drive circuits for driving the light emitting devices, a plurality of scanning lines and a plurality of lighting lines connecting the drive circuits in the row direction, a plurality of data lines connecting the drive circuits in the column direction, and a control circuit for controlling the scanning lines, the lighting lines, and the data lines. The control circuit performs at least twice, while performing a first programming scanning and a second programming scanning respectively once, a light emitting scanning in which the plurality of lighting lines are sequentially selected and currents corresponding to the signals set to the drive circuits are supplied from the drive circuit connected to the selected lighting lines to the light emitting devices. In addition, the control circuit varies the length of a period for which the currents are supplied from the drive circuits connected to the selected lighting lines to the light emitting devices every time the light emitting scanning is performed at least twice.

A display apparatus includes a plurality of luminescent devices aligned periodically in a row direction and in a column direction, a plurality of pixel circuits aligned periodically in a row direction and in a column direction for supplying an electric current to each of the luminescent devices, a plurality of data lines each connected commonly to the pixel circuits aligned periodically in the column direction for supplying signal currents to these pixel circuits, and a plurality of column-current generating circuits connected to the plurality of data lines respectively for supplying signal currents to corresponding data lines. Each of the column-current generating circuits have a plurality of transistor devices arranged in a distributed manner and including main electrodes respectively connected in parallel and control electrodes commonly connected. The plurality of transistor devices are arranged in the row direction at a pitch equal to or n times, with n being a natural number not smaller than two, of the alignment period in the row direction of the plurality of luminescent devices and arranged in the column direction at a constant pitch.

Display apparatus and information processing apparatus using the same

A display device includes a display unit in which display elements provided with pixel circuits are arranged so as to have a sequence of three different colors in a row direction and the colors are shifted in a column direction by 1.5 columns. A scanning line is provided in every row of the display unit, a signal line is provided in every column of the display unit, and a column control circuit outputs a display signal for every column. The positions of the pixel circuits are displaced in the row direction with respect to the arrangement of the display elements, and are thus aligned in the column direction and also connected to the signal line only on one side of the signal line. No inversion of the pixel circuit pattern occurs and variations of the circuit characteristics in every row are suppressed.

Display device

A driving circuit for a light-emitting device outputs a drive current from an output terminal to the light-emitting device in accordance with a signal current input from an input terminal. The driving circuit includes a drive transistor, a capacitor connected between a gate and a source of the driving transistor, and a resistance device and a first switch arranged in series between a drain of the drive transistor and the input terminal. In addition, a second switch is configured to connect the gate and the drain of the drive transistor through the resistance device when the first switch is closed, and a third switch is disposed in a path through which a drain current of the drive transistor flows from the output terminal to the light-emitting device. The resistance device increases its resistance in accordance with a cumulative amount of a passing current.

Driving circuit for light-emitting device and display apparatus

In an active matrix type display apparatus, during a first selection period, a second main conductive terminal of a drive transistor and a display element are isolated, and at the same time, a control terminal of the drive transistor and the second main conductive terminal and a signal line are connected, and the signal line is supplied with a first current capable of conducting the drive transistor. The first current does not correspond to a signal current corresponding to a current injected to the display element. During a second selection period, a connection of the second main conductive terminal of the drive transistor and the signal line is broken, and the signal line is supplied with a second current. The second current corresponds to a signal current corresponding to the current injected to the display element. During a non-selection period, the second main conductive terminal of the drive transistor and the display element are connected, and the drive current of the drive transistor corresponding to voltage between both terminals of a capacitive element is supplied to the display element.

Active matrix type display apparatus and driving method thereof

An active-matrix display apparatus includes an image display unit in which pixels are arranged in a matrix in row and column directions, a column control circuit group including thin-film transistors, the column control circuit group being configured to output a data signal to columns of the pixels, and a control-signal generating circuit including a thin-film transistor, with the control-signal generating circuit being configured to output a first control signal controlling the column control circuit group. The column control circuit group is controlled by the first control signal and a second control signal delayed from the first control signal, and the first control signal is generated by the control-signal generating circuit, then input into the column control circuit group, and then propagated through the column control circuit group. The second control signal is generated on the basis of the first control signal which has been propagated through the column control circuit group.

Circuit device and active-matrix display apparatus

A color display apparatus includes a display unit having electro-optical elements arranged in a row direction and a column direction, scanning lines provided in respective rows of the electro-optical elements to select respective rows, and data lines provided in respective columns and supplying data signals to electro-optical elements in the row which the scanning lines select, and conversion circuits each of which receives a digital video signal and converts the digital video signal to an analog video signal. In addition, a first dispersion circuit receives the analog video signals outputted from the conversion circuits and exchanges an arrangement of the analog video signals to output to bus lines, column drive circuits sample the analog video signals in the bus lines in a time sharing manner and generate and output the data signals, and a second dispersion circuit receives the data signals outputted from the column drive circuits and rearranges the data signals to output to the data lines. The rearranging of the data signals by the second dispersion circuit restores the exchanging of the arrangement by the first dispersion circuit.

Color display apparatus and active matrix apparatus

An active matrix display apparatus includes two-dimensionally arranged pixel circuits, each of which includes a display element, and a plurality of signal lines and scanning lines connected to the pixel circuits. Each of the pixel circuits include a drive transistor and a capacitor, with one terminal of the capacitor being connected to a control terminal of the drive transistor and a second terminal of the capacitor being connected to a first main conductive terminal of the drive transistor and a lighting power source. In a writing operation period, a current flowing to the signal line is conducted into the drive transistor, and in a lighting operation period, a current conducting in the drive transistor is injected into the display element. At a time during the writing operation period, a potential of the lighting power source is changed toward a potential of the signal line to depress the current conducting in the drive transistor and is kept for a period, during which the current conducting in the drive transistor partially recovers from the depression. After the writing operation period, the potential of the lighting power source is restored.

Active matrix display apparatus having a change in lighting power source before the end of a writing period and driving method thereof

For making outputs of a drive circuits accurate, the drive circuit is composed of a plurality of current signal generation circuits for outputting a current signal to each of a plurality of output units, a current signal output line to which outputs of the plurality of current signal generation circuits are commonly connected, a correction value output circuit for outputting a correction value obtained by evaluating the output of one or more specific circuits of the plurality of current signal generation circuits on a basis of current values output through the current signal output line, and a correction circuit for correcting an image signal supplied to the current signal generation circuits by means of the correction value.

Drive circuit, display apparatus using drive circuit, and evaluation method of drive circuit

Provided is a drive circuit for a light emitting device, which compensates for a decrease in luminance of the light emitting device and reduces a burn-in phenomenon. The drive circuit includes: a first capacitor connected to a gate of a drive transistor; and a second capacitor formed between the first capacitor on a side to which the gate of the drive transistor is not connected, and one end of a light emitting device. The drive circuit corrects an amount of charge of the first capacitor according to a change in potential of the node when the light emitting device starts illumination, and then, causes the light emitting device to illuminate according to the corrected amount of charge.

A correction sampling signal generation circuit is disposed subsequent to a plural-stage sampling signal generation circuit for sequentially generating sampling signals in response to an input timing signal, an extended sampling circuit is disposed subsequent to a plural-stage sampling circuit for sampling a video signal at timing of the sampling signal, and a data signal is sampled at timing of the sampling signal generated by the extended sampling circuit. In a timing adjustment period, the data signal for adjustment is generated, the phases of the data signal and the timing signal are relatively shifted, the outputs of the sampling circuits are supplied to a common output line through respective switches, and the phase of the optimum timing signal or the video signal is determined based on the output from the common output line.

A display apparatus includes a display area, in which pixels each including an EL device and a pixel circuit are arranged in a matrix on a substrate, and a column control circuit for controlling the pixel circuit column by column. The EL device is disposed between a lower pixel electrode and an upper transparent electrode on the substrate. The pixel electrode is electrically connected to the pixel circuit, and the transparent electrode is electrically connected to a common interconnecting line via a contact hole. The contact hole and the common interconnecting line are disposed to surround a periphery of the display area. The column control circuit is divided into two circuits one of which is disposed between the contact hole and the display area and the other of which is disposed outside the area between the contact hole and the display area.
