Described herein are compositions composed of micronized placental components and pharmaceutical compositions thereof. The compositions have numerous medical applications. Methods for making and using the micronized compositions are also described herein.

Micronized placental tissue compositions and methods of making and using the same

Described herein are tissue grafts derived from the placenta with improved physical and biological properties. In one aspect, the tissue graft includes a first membrane comprising Wharton's jelly laminated with amnion, chorion, or a combination thereof. The presence of Wharton's jelly in the grafts enhances the performance of allograft amniotic-derived, caderivic allograft, xenograft, or alloplast soft tissue substitutes.

Laminated tissue grafts composed of Wharton's jelly and methods of making and using the same

Described herein are tissue grafts derived from the placenta that possess good adhesion to biological tissues and are useful in wound healing applications. In one aspect, the tissue graft includes (1) two or more layers of amnion, wherein at least one layer of amnion is cross-linked, (2) two or more layers of chorion, wherein at least one layer of chorion is cross-linked, or (3) one or more layers of amnion and chorion, wherein at least one layer of amnion and/or chorion is cross-linked. In another aspect, the grafts are composed of amnion and chorion cross-linked with one another. In a further aspect, the grafts have one or more layers sandwiched between the amnion and chorion membranes. The amnion and/or the chorion are treated with a cross-linking agent prior to the formation of the graft. The presence of the cross-linking agent present on the graft also enhances adhesion to the biological tissue of interest. Also described herein are methods for making and using the tissue grafts.

Placental tissue grafts modified with a cross-linking agent and methods of making and using the same

Tissue grafts modified with a cross-linking agent and method of making and using the same

The present invention provides compositions and formulations of micronized Wharton's jelly having a controlled viscosity such that when delivered to the injured region of a subject, it remains substantially localized with little or no migration out of the injured region for the repair and/or regeneration thereof. Micronized Wharton's Jelly can be suspended in a pharmaceutically acceptable aqueous carrier, such as saline, sterile water, or any suitable buffer, to form a suspension or a gelatinous gel composition, or it can be in the form of a paste, suitable for delivery into the space adjacent the articular surface cartilage injured region of a subject. The micronized Wharton's jelly when employed at sufficient concentrations can be hydrated into a gel or paste and administered topically, or it can be injected into the body through the use of a needle and syringe. Accordingly, micronized Wharton's Jelly, compositions, or formulations thereof, can be delivered in a manner that is more convenient than Wharton's jelly that has not been micronized in accordance with the present invention.
