The apparatus includes an information acquisition unit configured to acquire personal information of a person, a processor that determines a target object based on the personal information and identifies positional information of the target object, and an emitter for emitting at least one of ultrasound waves and light to the target object based on the positional information. The method includes the steps of acquiring personal information of a person, determining the target object based on the personal information and identifying positional information of the target object, and emitting at least one of ultrasound waves and light from an emitter to the target object based on the positional information.

The method includes the steps of acquiring sensing information of a person to be provided with a reproduced sound, determining a position of the person from the acquired sensing information, and controlling output levels of the directional speakers. The output levels of the speakers are determined based on the distance from the person.

A sound reproducing apparatus capable of self-diagnostic. The apparatus includes a directional speaker emitting ultrasound waves to a target object, an information acquisition unit configured to acquire a sound from the target object and optionally an image of the target object, and a processor electrically connected with the directional speaker and the information acquisition unit. The processor drives the directional speaker to emit the ultrasound waves to the target object and diagnoses a failure of the directional speaker based on the sound acquired by the information acquisition unit. The apparatus includes a noise assessment unit configured to assess an intensity of ambient sound, a processor that determines an omnidirectional audio output level based on the intensity of ambient sound, an omnidirectional speaker configured to reproduce a desired sound at the omnidirectional audio output level, and a directional speaker configured to reproduce the desired sound simultaneously with the omnidirectional speaker. The method includes the steps of assessing an intensity of ambient sound, determining an omnidirectional audio output level based on the intensity of ambient sound, and reproducing a desired sound simultaneously from an omnidirectional speaker and a directional speaker. The omnidirectional speaker is controlled to reproduce the desired sound at the omnidirectional audio output level.
