Systems and methods are disclosed for testing circuit modules. A system for testing a circuit module includes a test circuit board configured to interface with a host system, a standard connector implemented on the test circuit board and configured to be attachably coupled to the circuit module, a micro-backplane module configured to be attachably coupled to the circuit module and a micro-backplane module interface connector implemented on the test circuit board and configured to be attachably coupled to the micro-backplane module.

An optical communication system has a transmitter that generates an optical signal containing payload data and security data. The transmitter double modulates an optical signal where payload data is in-band and security data is out-of-band. If a man-in-the-middle attack occurs and the intrusion device is unable to detect the out-of-band signal, the intrusion device will not replicate the out-of-band signal thereby allowing the presence of the intrusion device to be detected.

An architecture for transport of multiple services in connectionless packet-based networks is described herein, along with the packet format used for data transport in this architecture. The architecture supports transport of both connectionless packetized data and framed data from synchronous leased lines. The architecture supports transparent packetization of incoming DS1 data. The architecture works for mesh architectures but is optimized for OSI Layer (crossconnect) and Layer (Virtual LAN, or VLAN) services and for ring topologies, since for these services in a ring no path setup is required using a label distribution protocol. In addition, it simultaneously supports OSI Layer , Layer , and Layer services.
