A method performed by a network node for establishing a connection for data transmission between the network node and the wireless device in a wireless communication network is provided. The network node establishes that the wireless device is fixed. Fixed comprises always being served by the same one or more access points. The network node obtains a Timing Advance (TA) for transmissions between the network node and the wireless device, based on the distance between the network node and the wireless device. The obtaining of the TA is performed without Uplink (UL) transmission. The network node sends an indication to the wireless device, which indication indicates the obtained TA. The network node then establishes a connection for data transmission between the network node and the wireless device based on the sent TA in Radio Resource Control, RRC, signaling.

Systems and methods for obtaining timing advances

A disclosed method is implemented by a network node in a wireless communication network to transmitting system information to a plurality of wireless terminals. The network node transmits a first group of system information blocks (SIBs) via a first physical channel, and transmits a second group of additional SIBs via a different, second physical channel. A corresponding network node operative to implement the method is also disclosed. Another disclosed method is implemented by a wireless terminal in a wireless communication network. The wireless terminal processes information received from a base station over a first physical channel to identify a first group of SIBs, and processes information received from the base station over a different, second physical channel to identify a second group of additional SIBs. A corresponding wireless terminal operative to implement the method is also disclosed.

Extended system information distribution mechanisms

A method performed by a network node, for planning radio resources for transmissions is provided. The network node establishes () that a wireless device is fixed, wherein fixed comprises always being served by the same one or more access points. The network node obtains () a configuration comprising an identity of the wireless device and associated parameters to be used for transmissions between the network node and the wireless device. The parameters comprise an identity of the one or more access points serving the wireless device. The parameters further comprise any one or more out of: Time and periodicity, for transmissions between the network node and the wireless device. Based on the configuration, the network node plans () radio resources available in the network node for upcoming transmissions between the network node and any wireless device.

Network node and method in a wireless communications network

A disclosed method is implemented by a network node in a wireless communication network to transmitting system information to a plurality of wireless terminals. A wireless device () and a method for modifying a configuration. The wireless device is operating in a wireless communications network (). The wireless device receives a reconfiguration message comprising a difference relating to one or more parameters of a configuration, which configuration is associated with a first identity and stored in the wireless device. The wireless device modifies, based on the difference, the one or more parameters of the stored configuration, which modification results in a result configuration, and stores the result configuration with a second identity.

Wireless device, a network node, and methods therein

In an aspect, a wireless terminal, operating in a wireless communication system with distinct areas that each include base stations, transmits a data packet to a network node on a common channel. The data packet includes a header with an identifier that is an area-specific identifier for the wireless terminal. The wireless terminal has been allocated an area-specific identifier but not a cell-specific identifier. A network node of the wireless communication system receives the data packet sent from the wireless terminal. The network node associates the area-specific identifier for the wireless terminal in the data packet with a network-wide identifier for the wireless terminal and handles the data packet according to the network-wide identifier.

Method and apparatus for efficient transmission from a dormant state

There is provided a method, performed by a network node (e.g. an RNC), for detecting a neighbor cell relation between different radio access technologies in a cellular communication network. The method comprises the step (S) of triggering a User Equipment, UE, served in a first cell of a first radio access technology (e.g. WCDMA cell) under the control of the network node (e.g. RNC), to perform a cell selection process by initiating a connection release with redirection to a second radio access technology (e.g. GSM), causing the UE to select a second cell of the second radio access technology (e.g. GSM cell). The method also comprises the step (S) of receiving information representing the identity of the second cell selected by the UE (e.g. CGI), and the step (S) of identifying, based on the received information representing the identity of the second cell and information representing the identity of the first cell, a neighbor cell relation between the first cell and the second cell. In this way, an efficient way of detecting a neighbor cell relation between different radio access technologies is provided.
