A driver assistance system has an emergency stopping function for a motor vehicle. The driver assistance system is designed to perform an automated lane change from a first lane to a second lane when the emergency stopping function is triggered. The driver assistance system is further designed to determine at least one road characteristic and/or at least one vehicle interior characteristic and, based on the determined at least one road characteristic and/or the vehicle interior characteristic, to decide whether to execute the lane change.

An apparatus activates/deactivates a motor vehicle safety system during a turning maneuver. The safety system is designed to carry out a braking operation of the motor vehicle during a turning maneuver if a probability of a collision of the motor vehicle with oncoming traffic is equal to or greater than a determined threshold value. The apparatus includes a detection unit for detecting an actual driving behavior of the vehicle driver, a determining unit for determining whether the actual driver behavior corresponds to a predefined sporty driving behavior, and a control unit for deactivating the safety system prior to carrying out the braking operation when the actual driving behavior corresponds to a predefined sporty driving behavior.

Apparatus for activating/deactivating a motor vehicle security system during a turning maneuver of the motor vehicle

A driver assistance system has an emergency stop function for a motor vehicle. The motor vehicle has an electric parking brake. A parking-brake operating element is used to activate the electric parking brake. The driver assistance system is designed to activate an emergency stop function in accordance with the actuation of the parking-brake operating element and, as part of the emergency stop function, to perform an autonomous emergency stop driving maneuver for the emergency stopping of the vehicle. The driver assistance system is characterized in that the driver assistance system is designed to activate the emergency stop function only in response to an end of the actuation of the parking-brake operating element.
