A method and a system for transmitting a sensor signal, transmits the sensor signal in such a way that the analog electrical sensor signal is converted with the aid of a system for signal conversion into a converted signal and that this converted signal is transmitted to a control unit. As a result, the sensor signal is able to be transmitted to the control unit in a reliable manner and be evaluated thereby.

In a method and a device for checking the adjustment of a plurality of actuators driven by a common drive in different mass flow channels of an internal combustion engine, the actuators are adjusted between a first limit stop and a second limit stop in the particular mass flow channel. A first value of a variable that is characteristic of a position of the common drive of the actuators is determined when the first limit stop is reached. A difference is determined between the first value and the second value. The difference is compared in terms of absolute value to at least one predefined threshold value. A method for operating an internal combustion engine, in which at least one first influence variable influences a state variable of the air in the intake manifold. The state variable of the air in the intake manifold is ascertained while taking into account a plurality of influence variables, which influence the state variable, while using a first physical relationship. The same state variable is ascertained while taking into account a plurality of influence variables, which influence the state variable of the air in the intake manifold while using a second physical relationship. A specific adjusting parameter, which represents a specific error in the influence variable, is linked to each influence variable. The adjusting parameters are learned and monitored in the operation of the internal combustion engine. A certain adjusting parameter is learned and monitored in an operating range of the internal combustion engine in which the other adjusting parameters have a lesser influence on the state variable than that certain adjusting parameter, and in this context, the certain adjusting parameter is adjusted in such a way that the state variable ascertained by using the first physical relationship is at least approximately equal to the state variable ascertained by using the second physical relationship.

A method and a device for monitoring the intake manifold pressure of an internal combustion engine in which a measured signal for the intake manifold pressure is compared with a reference signal for the intake manifold pressure. For a deviation of the measured signal for the intake manifold pressure from the reference signal for the intake manifold pressure, a tolerance range is predefined for error-free operation of the intake and/or exhaust valves of at least one cylinder of the internal combustion engine. A check is made whether the measured signal for the intake manifold pressure deviates from the reference signal for the intake manifold pressure by more than a predefined tolerance range. In this case an erroneous operation of the intake and/or exhaust valves is detected; otherwise an error-free operation of the intake and/or exhaust valves is detected.
