A novel RFID communication device is proposed which allows the detection and electronic processing not only of the response signal backscattered at the fundamental frequency fof the reader, but also at least one response signal backscattered at a harmonic frequency, before feeding them to the conventional receive chain of an RFID reader. The joint use of the signal at the fundamental frequency of the reader and at least one signal at a harmonic frequency allows the reader's performance to be improved. The RFID reader can additionally be provided with novel functionalities by virtue of suitable software processing. It is applicable to the field of communications between a reader and passive transponders in UHF RFID and to the field of the Internet of Things.

RFID reader and associated complementary device

The present invention relates to a set of security documents. Each security document within the set having an optical code, notably a barcode, which is neither connected nor coupled to any electronic chip that may be carried by the security document. The optical code on each security document within the set encodes the same information for the same optical reader. Each security document having different respective electromagnetic signature, these signatures being unique to each of the security documents.

An RFID communication system comprises an interrogator including a signal generator for generating an interrogation signal at a predetermined frequency fand a first interrogator antenna for transmitting said interrogation signal and receiving a first reply signal at a frequency f, and processing means, and a passive transponder including a first transponder antenna for transmitting said first rely signal and receiving said interrogation signal and a chip comprising nonlinear components for generating said first reply signal in response to the interrogation signal. The interrogator is arranged to receive a second reply signal whose frequency is a multiple of the predetermined frequency f, said multiple being either odd or even, said second reply frequency being generated by the nonlinear components of the transponder chip, said first and second reply signals being processed by the processing means of the interrogator in order to complete or improve the functionality of the system.

A chipless RFID tag comprises a plurality of disjoint parallel conducting bands formed on a dielectric support, in which conducting bridges interlink neighboring conducting bands, the conducting bridges delimiting, between the conducting bands, portions of dielectric bands of distinct lengths, each portion of dielectric brand determining a resonant frequency of the tag, the set of resonant frequencies of the tag defining an identification code.
