Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to wireless communication devices, systems comprising wireless communication devices, and to an apparatus, a method and a computer program for a wireless communication device. The apparatus comprises a transceiver module for transmitting and receiving wireless transmissions. The apparatus comprises a processing module that is configured to control the transceiver module. The processing module is configured to communicate with a further wireless communication device via the transceiver module. The communication with the further wireless communication device is based on a transmission of data frames between the wireless communication device and the further wireless communication device. Each data frame is based on a two-dimensional grid in a time-frequency plane having a time dimension resolution and a frequency dimension resolution. The processing module is configured to select a communication mode from a plurality of communication modes for the communication between the wireless communication device and the wireless communication device. The communication mode defines a combination of a frequency dimension resolution and a time dimension resolution of the two-dimensional grid in the time-frequency plane.

The present disclosure provides a device, a base station device, and a method for obtaining an estimate of a downlink (DL) covariance matrix from an uplink (UL) covariance matrix. The device and method are particularly suitable for massive Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) scenarios, and are particularly applicable to Frequency-Division Duplexing (FDD) systems. The device includes a processor configured to compute an angular power spectrum (APS) of an antenna array, in particular in the continuous angular domain, based on the UL covariance matrix of a communication channel and an UL response of the antenna array. Further, the processor is configured to compute the DL covariance matrix of the communication channel based on the APS and a DL response of the antenna array. The base station device includes the device and the antenna array.

A method for terminal-to-terminal communication in a cellular mobile radio network includes providing a radio signal interference map that is indicative of a location-dependent radio signal interference disturbance within a coverage area of a base station. The location-dependent radio signal interference disturbance is indicative of a radio signal interference disturbance of a terminal-to-terminal communication, and the radio signal interference map is based on a learning algorithm for a geographic radio signal interference map. Configuration information regarding a configuration setting of a radio transmission for a terminal-to-terminal communication between a first mobile radio communication terminal and a second mobile radio communication terminal is provided based on the location-dependent radio signal interference disturbance of the radio signal interference map. The configuration setting enables a statement regarding a configuration to be performed in respect of the radio transmission. The method also includes setting up a terminal-to-terminal communication between the first mobile radio communication terminal and the second mobile radio communication terminal, taking into account of the provided configuration information regarding the configuration setting.

A transmitter-side estimation of the complex channel influence between function variable value transmitters and function receivers is limited to the estimation of the magnitude of the channel influence, so that a pre-distortion of the symbols of the symbol sequences depends on an inverse of the magnitude of the channel influence, but is independent of a phase of the channel influence. Easing the channel estimation does not change the central tendency of the calculated function results transmitted over the multiple channel. Alternatively, on the side of the function receiver, a statistical quantity describing the multiple-access channel is determined. For this purpose, it is sufficient when the function variable value transmitters transmit constant power signals over the multiple-access channel in a channel estimation phase. Thus, the channel estimation effort is transferred to the function receiver and hence occurs less frequently, which again reduces the overall energy expenditure.

The invention relates to distributed wireless ad hoc networks having interfering transmission channels, in which direct links between adjacent transmit nodes and receive nodes in a connection pair are established and optimized. The inventive signaling method alternately uses a primary network and an adjoint network, the respective transmit nodes and receive nodes constantly changing their roles in an agreed time pattern. The transmission signals in the adjoint network are predistorted in such a way that the influence of the proper mobile radio channel is canceled on each transmission channel. The occurring interference is implicitly transmitted as well by the receive nodes and can be directly determined and taken into account by the transmit nodes.

Signaling method for decentralized allocation of online transmission power in a wireless network

A radio transmission method and a wireless transmission system comprising multiple transmitter and receiver antennae simultaneously operating within the same frequency range and space-time encoders and decoders. Data transmission and channel matrix measurement can take place synchronously. Characteristic pilot signals that are unequivocally recognizable are superimposed with low noise on the data subsignals in the transmitter and are used in the receiver for the analog measurement of the channel matrix in a weighting unit and for the analog recovery of the transmitted data subsignals from the received signals. The measured analog values are digitally processed in a signal processor. The weightings thus determined are then summed in an analog signal processing unit.
