A field device energy management unit for a field device with an energy store for temporarily storing energy for a load of the field device includes a first current path connected or connectable to the energy store on the input side and in which a first diode is arranged on the output side, at least one second current path connected or connectable to a voltage supply of the field device on the input side, and in which a second diode is arranged on the output side, where the first and the second diode are operable such that, when the energy consumption of the load is low, the first diode is connected in the reverse direction and the second diode is connected in the forward direction and, when the energy consumption of the load is high, the first diode is connected in the forward direction.

Field device energy management unit

A system and a method for industrial communication, employing an adaptive repeater supporting communication between at least two communicating devices using one of two or more predetermined communication protocols at a time instant, are provided. The adaptive repeater includes a communication direction module and a protocol adapter module operably coupled to one another. The communication direction module detects a direction of communication between the communicating devices using physical layer parameters of the communication protocols, and establishes communication there-between, using a sampling clock. The protocol adapter module adapts the communication direction module to the communication protocol in use, by generating the sampling clock.

Adaptive repeater for industrial communication

A measurement transducer for process instrumentation includes a sensor for detecting a physical or chemical quantity, where a supply voltage to the sensor is regulated by a cross regulator to a constant value, and the current intensity of the current adjusted by the cross regulator and flowing parallel to the sensor is determined and monitored to maintain a specified criterion in order to detect a sensor error such that error conditions of the sensor can be determined in a particularly simple and effective way.
