An edible composition comprising starch and cellulose ether particles, wherein at least 10 volume percent of the cellulose ether particles have a particle length LEFI of less than 40 micrometers, is useful for preparing a batter by mixing the edible composition with water. The batter is contacted with a food to prepare a battered food. The battered foods have a reduced oil and/or fat uptake when fried, as compared to fried non-battered food.

An edible composition comprising starch and cellulose ether particles, wherein the cellulose ether particles have a ratio M/Mof not more than 200 micrometers, wherein Mis the number volume mean and Mis the number surface area mean of the cellulose ether particles, and/or wherein the cellulose ether particles have a volume fraction of fibrous particles of no more than 40%, is useful for preparing a batter by mixing the edible composition with water. Polysaccharide derivatives having a median Equivalent Projected Circle Diameter (EQPC) of less than 140 micrometers and a particle size and shape distribution meeting condition A or B or both are useful for preparing dosage forms, particularly for preparing compressed sustained-release dosage forms: A. non-compacted polysaccharide derivative particles have a flowability of at least 45 g/sec through a vertically inverted cone having a vertex angle of about 40 and an outlet diameter of about 50 mm, or B. i) no more than 40 volume percent of the polysaccharide derivative particles are fine particles having a particle length LEFI of less than 40 micrometers and ii) no more than 40 volume percent of the polysaccharide derivative particles are fibrous particles, and the sum of the fine particles and the fibrous particles does not exceed 50 volume percent.

A high pressure polymerization process to form an ethylene-based polymer comprises the steps of: A. Injecting a first feed comprising ethylene and optionally a chain transfer agent system (CTA system) into a first autoclave reactor zone operating at polymerization conditions to produce a first zone reaction product, the CTA system of the first reactor zone having a transfer activity Z1; and B. Crosslinkable polyolefin compositions, articles prepared from such compositions, and processes for making such compositions are described that possess both good processability and fast cure rates. The crosslinkable polyolefin compositions are bidisperse blends of ethylene polymers of the same polymer family having differing number average molecular weights as obtained by deconvolution in which M.sub.n1 /M.sub.n2 &gt;7, M.sub.n2 &gt;3000 and 0.7.gtoreq.(A.sub.1 /(A.sub.1 +A.sub.2)).gtoreq.0.15 wherein M.sub.n1 represents the number average molecular weight of the first deconvoluted component, M.sub.n2 represents the number average molecular weight of the second deconvoluted component, and A.sub.1 and A.sub.2 are the relative proportions of the first and second components. These crosslinkable polyolefin compositions are useful for the manufacture of various articles, such as wire and cable coatings, weather-stripping and seals, gaskets, articles made from foamed and/or sponge-like crosslinked polyolefin or either closed or open cell structure and/or combinations thereof, hollow containers, hollow tanks, medical appliances, drapes and coverings, items of health and personal care, fibers, tapes, tubes, pipes and hoses, bellows, boots, gaiters, footwear, etc.
