Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may obtain forward error correction (FEC) information associated with an application data unit (ADU). The UE may adjust a packet data convergence protocol (PDCP) characteristic, a radio link control (RLC) characteristic, or a physical layer hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) characteristic for transmitting a packet associated with the ADU based at least in part on the FEC information. Numerous other aspects are described.

Application data unit forward error correction adaptation

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may identify a throttling indicator for a shared resource associated with a modem at the UE. The CE may determine a configuration of the modem based on a configuration received from a Radio Resource Control layer of the UE. Based on the modem configuration and the throttling indicator, the UE may identify a throttling level to apply to the modem. The UE may adjust the modem configuration for communicating with a base station based on the throttling level in order to reduce resource usage below a usage threshold. By reducing usage of the shared resource by the modem, the UE may have a greater availability of the shared resource to meet the needs of other components of the UE. This may provide an improved user experience at the UE, among other benefits.

This disclosure provides systems, methods and apparatuses for using a media access control (MAC) control element (CE) for dynamic RLC entities selection. In one aspect, a base station (BS) may generate and transmit the control message to a user equipment (UE) to identify active radio link control (RLC) entities, a primary RLC entity, or other parameters relating to packet data convergence protocol (PDCP) duplication-based communication. In this case, the UE may use the control message to select an RLC entity and may transmit protocol data units (PDUs) to the BS using a data radio bearer (DRB) and the selected RLC entity.

Generally, the described techniques provide for a user equipment (UE) to adaptively transition between modes of an adaptive receive diversity (ARD) antenna management configuration. In some cases, the UE may determine to transition from an ARD disallowed mode to an ARD standby mode in response to receiving a burst of downlink grants. The UE may dynamically update one or more criterion for transitioning between the ARD disallowed mode and the ARD standby mode according to a pattern of received downlink grants. For example, the UE may adjust a threshold quantity of downlink grants which constitutes a burst based on a downlink scheduling rate (DSR) of one or more prior ARD standby durations. In some cases, the UE may identify a fallback condition to transition from the ARD standby mode to the ARD disallowed mode.

In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may determine, during a packet data convergence protocol (PDCP) reordering timer period, whether one or more packet transfer criteria are satisfied. A UE may include one or more application processors and a modem processor. The modem processor may include flow priority engine configured to receive, from the one or more application processors, requests for determining priority treatment of one or more packet filters of one or more uplink transmissions and transmit the one or more uplink transmissions to a base station based on priorities of the one or more uplink transmissions. The priorities of the uplink transmissions may be determined based on at least one of the requests for priority treatment received from the one or more application processors, mapping of uplink transmissions to radio bearers, the priorities of the radio bearers, or one or more configuration rules.

A user equipment (UE) determine that at least one packet of a set of packets for a downlink message is unsuccessfully received at a radio link control (RLC) layer of the UE due to a specific situation of a set of specific situations and may transmit the NACK message based on the missing packet (s) on an as needed basis rather than waiting for a timer to expire (e.g., a fast NACK mechanism). In some examples, the specific situations may include the UE missing packets after a measurement gap, missing packets based on wake up latencies for a discontinuous reception mode of the UE, missing packets due to interference from reference signals transmitted by neighboring cells, missing packets due to the UE not decoding retransmissions that have a same redundancy version (RV) of a downlink message, or a combination thereof.

A configuration to enable a UE to send data to a modem, from an AP, in the absence of an uplink grant from the modem. An apparatus receives data transmissions from a base station. The apparatus stores the data transmissions in a memory of the AP of the apparatus. The apparatus identifies, by the AP, an uplink grant based at least in part on a size of a modem buffer. The apparatus determines, by the application processor, whether to send data to the modem based at least in part on the identified uplink grant. The apparatus sends, by the AP, the data when the identified uplink grant exceeds a threshold.

System and method for flow control and acknowledgement transmission
