The invention relates to an ultrasound welding device for welding electrical conductors to produce a node between the conductors, comprising a compression space for receiving the conductors, which is delimited peripherally by two working surfaces delimiting the compression space on opposing sides and two lateral delimitation surfaces running transversely to the working surfaces, and the remaining sides are open. One of the working surfaces is a portion of a sonotrode, excitable in ultrasound oscillation, for the ultrasound welding device and the other working surface is a portion of a counterelectrode and at least the working surfaces are structured.

Ultrasound welding device and method for welding electrical conductors

The invention relates to an ultrasonic welding device having an oscillator, having a sonotrode, which can be caused to oscillate with a wavelength, and has a welding region in the vibration antinode of the sonotrode. The sonotrode is supported at the vibration node of the sonotrode in a first bearing. To enable both a radial and an axial alignment of the sonotrode, the first bearing has a projection, which has a U-shaped geometry in a section extending in a longitudinal direction of the sonotrode, which U-shaped geometry has side legs and a cross leg that connects the side legs, the projection engages in a recess in the sonotrode matched to the U-shaped geometry, the sonotrode is supported on the cross leg of the projection in a planar manner, and the sonotrode is axially aligned by means of at least one side leg of the projection.

A method and apparatus for welding lines having metallic braids or strands to form an end node or transit node by introducing a first portion of each line into a compression space of an ultrasonic welding apparatus, wherein the first portions run along a straight line, wherein at least one line has a component at a distance from the end node or transit node to be welded, and at least the line which has the component is attenuated between the compression space and the contact element in a second portion by a change in profile of the line which is imposed using a deflection device. To this end, the line which has the component is oriented in extension of the straight line.
