A wall mount for an electronic device includes two screw or hook receiving keyhole apertures. A device including a remote control of remote operation of the device is described. The remote control includes a key matrix and a microprocessor. The microprocessor processes key scan codes from the key matrix and converts the key scan codes to amplitude modulated remote control commands for transmission by a wireless transmitter. The device includes components so that a user can operate the device locally without a remote control. The components in the device that enable local operation of the device are comparable to components in the remote control that enable remote operation of the device so that a minimum of changes are required in the device to enable local operation of the device.

An antenna for reception and transmission of signals within an enclosure. The antenna includes a first lead for connection to a printed circuit board and a second lead. A plurality of vertical members extend in parallel to one another and spaced a predetermined distance apart. Each vertical member has a first end and a second end. A plurality of horizontal members is provided. Each horizontal member extends alternately between first ends of a pair of adjacent vertical members and second ends of a next pair of adjacent vertical members forming a connection between said first lead and said second lead.

An electronic device includes a cover for one or more heat generating components, with the cover providing at least a combined conductive, convective, and radiant cooling for the heat generating components while maintaining the device within a prescribed temperature range. Conductive cooling is realized by providing thermal coupling between each of two or more depression regions in the cover and one or more heat generating components. Appropriate placement of air inlets and outlets through the cover provides convective cooling of the heat generating components and the thermally coupled depression regions. Heat from the heat generating components thermally coupled to one depression region is effectively isolated from heat generated by other heat generating components thermally coupled to another adjacent depression region at least in part via the air outlets through an interior region between the two adjacent depression regions. Radiant cooling can also be improved by increasing the emissivity of the device cover material.

There is provided an electronic device. The electronic device includes a circuit board having heat generating components thereon. The electronic device further includes spring clips or bend tabs. The electronic device also includes a heat sink, disposed over the circuit board, through which heat from the circuit board and the components thereon is released. The heat sink has a generally flat horizontal base and a series of vertically directed fins. The heat sink is secured to at least one of the circuit board and at least one of the components thereon by the spring clips or bend tabs being positioned at a periphery of the horizontal base. The spring clips or bend tabs have distal contact prongs that contact and apply downward force on the horizontal base.

An electronic apparatus such as an audio apparatus enables both digital and analog data to be communicated over a data bus such as a universal serial bus (USB) with a single low-cost connector such as a USB connector. An auto-eject foot stand assembly with multi-viewing angles for a visual device includes a foot having an axle perpendicular to the foot. The axle rotatably extends in a bracket. A gear is securely provided outside the axle and between the bracket and the foot. A spring is provided between the gear and the bracket. An elasticity plate is engaged with the gear. A locker is pivotally mounted on the bracket and operated by a metal spring plate to lock the gear. When the metal spring plate is pressed, the gear is released from the locker and the foot can be ejected under the elastic force of the spring. By the engagement between the gear and elasticity plate, the foot can be rotated and positioned at various desired viewing angels.

A digital audio player and a method for processing encoded digital audio data, wherein the digital audio data is encoded using one of a plurality of encoding formats. The exemplary audio data player includes a hard disk or other data storage medium for storing data files, a microcontroller, buffer memory for anti-skip protection, and an audio decoder. The encoded audio data files and associated decoder files are downloaded from a personal computer or similar device to the audio data player hard drive. The player provides a menu-driven user interface for selection, sorting, and playback of stored audio data files. The audio decoder, generally a digital signal processor, provides various preset equalization modes. The preset modes are specific to audio genres such as jazz, pop, and rock. The user may select a specific equalization mode by using the user interface, or the preset equalization mode will be automatically set based on the genre, or other attribute information, included in a tag portion of the audio data file.

A method and an apparatus for providing digital quality transmission of audio and non-audio information using low cost components and arrangement. The present invention provides for the transmission of the audio and non-audio transmission by first converting the data to conform to the CD standard format and conditioning the converted signal to thereby generate a conditioned EFM signal. The conditioned EFM signal is used to frequency modulate a carrier. By converting the audio and non-audio information to conform to the CD standard format, the present method provides a low cost means of transmitting the data with error detection and correction. Another aspect of the present invention relates to embedding the non-audio information in the SUBCODE block of the data frame according to the CD standard. The non-audio information may be unrelated to the audio information, and the audio and non-audio information may be transmitted to separate devices. Method and apparatus for transmitting audio and non-audio information with error correction

An apparatus and a method for processing encoded digital audio data, wherein the digital audio data is encoded using one of a plurality of encoding formats. The present invention prevents encoded digital audio data that has been copied onto a particular type of data storage medium having a unique identifier, such as a compactflash memory card, from another one of the particular type of data storage medium from being playable in an audio playback device according to the present invention. In accordance with the present invention, an encoded audio data file is encrypted using a unique identifier associated with the data storage device and a second key, an associated decoder file is encrypted using a first key, and the encrypted data and decoder files are stored onto the data storage device. During playback, a digital signal processor decrypt the audio data file in response to the second key and decrypts the decoder file in response to the first key. Advantageously, the second key is generated in response to the unique identifier and a third key. This method of encrypting and playing back the audio data files stored in the data storage device prevents an apparatus according to the present invention from playing back audio data files from a particular type of data storage device having a unique identifier, when the audio data files have been copied from another one of the same type of data storage device.

Method and apparatus for processing digitally encoded audio data

A method and apparatus is disclosed for detecting and concealing errors in stored digital samples. A multibit digital input sample is received and an error detecting code, corresponding to that input sample is calculated. Then a multibit digital storage sample is generated by substituting the error detecting code for the same number of least significant bits of the input sample. The storage sample is then stored in a memory device. A previously stored sample is retrieved from the memory device and is analyzed to detect whether an error has occurred. If an error is detected, a substitute sample is produced for the retrieved sample, otherwise the retrieved sample is produced.
