A light guide plate includes: an optical glass, the optical glass having a refractive index nof at least 1.75 or of at least 1.80 and including NbOin an amount of at least 15 mol % and POin an amount of at least 19 mol %, the light guide plate having an internal transmission of at least 0.80 or of at least 0.90, measured at a wavelength of 440 nm and a sample thickness of 10 mm.

The present disclosure relates to a glass composition as well as a glass powder. The disclosure also relates to the use in the dental field, e.g. as dental material such as dental filling or dental restauration material, in particular as or for the production of a glass ionomer cement, for example for the treatment and/or for the filling of cavities in human and/or animal teeth and/or for tooth restoration.

Glass composition and glass powder, in particular for the use in the dental field

The present disclosure relates to compositions that can be used for optical fibers and other systems that transmit light in the near-, mid- and/or far-ranges of the infrared spectrum, such as for example in the wavelength range of 1.5 &#x3bc;m to 14 &#x3bc;m. The optical fibers may comprise a light-transmitting chalcogenide core composition and a cladding composition. In some embodiments, the light-transmitting chalcogenide core composition has a refractive index n(core) and a coefficient of thermal expansion CTE(core), and the cladding composition has a refractive index n(cladding) and a coefficient of thermal expansion CTE(cladding), wherein n(cladding) is less than n(core) and in some embodiments wherein CTE(cladding) is less than CTE(core). In some embodiments, the chalcogenide glass core composition comprises a) sulfur and/or selenium, b) germanium, and c) gallium, indium, tin and/or one or more metal halides.

Device comprising optical elements of selected refractive index

The invention relates to a radiopaque glass having a refractive index nof 1.480 to 1.561, this glass, apart from impurities at most, being free from SrO and PbO. The glass is based on the SiO, AlOand BOsystem. The radiopacity can be adjusted using CsO in particular in combination with BaO and/or SnOoptionally in conjunction with fluorine. The glass may be used in particular as dental glass or as optical glass.

Radiopaque glass and use thereof

Glasses are provided that are highly transparent and have very good resistance to solarisation. The resistance to solarisation is favoured to a special extent by the production method. The concentrations of reduced polyvalent ion species are reduced by targeted use of bubbling with an oxidising gas. Methods for producing glasses and to the uses thereof, particularly as core glasses in optical waveguides, are also provided.

Highly transmissive glasses with high solarisation resistance, use thereof and method for production thereof

A conversion material for a white or colored light source is provided. The material includes a matrix glass that, as bulk material, for a thickness of about 1 mm, has a pure transmission of greater than 80% in the wavelength region from 350 to 800 nm and in the region in which the primary light source emits light, wherein the sum of transmission and reflection of the sintered matrix glass without luminophore is at least greater than 80% in the spectral region from 350 nm to 800 nm and in the spectral region in which the primary light source emits light.

Conversion material for white or colored light source, method of production, and light source having the conversion material

A glass having a good hydrolytic resistance and alkali resistance is defined by a targeted combination of stoichiometric glasses, including glasses also existing as crystals in the same stoichiometry and whose properties can be assumed as being very similar due to the identical topology of the structural units for glass and crystal, respectively. A process of producing the glasses is also provided.

Glasses having improved hydrolytic and alkali resistance

The glasses of the present disclosure are highly transparent and have very good resistance to solarization. The resistance to solarization arises from the production method. The concentrations of reduced polyvalent ion species are reduced by targeted use of bubbling with an oxidizing gas. Methods for producing glasses and to the uses thereof, particularly as core glasses in optical waveguides, are also provided.

Glass sheets with high refractive indexes (nd), layer composite assemblies including the glass sheets, methods for manufacturing the glass sheets, and methods of using the glass sheets are all provided. The glass sheets can be processed in a glass sheet manufacturing process and nevertheless have the optical properties of a classical optical glass. The glass sheets of the are highly transparent, resistant to crystallization, chemically resistant and highly refractive. The glass sheets have a viscosity-temperature behavior that is adapted to the manufacturing procedure with glass sheet manufacturing processes.

Highly refractive thin glasses

The present invention relates to optical glasses, in particular special short flint glasses (KZFS) and optical elements and components, which comprise these glasses, and use thereof and a method for producing such optical glasses. The optical glasses of the present invention are characterized by a pronounced short flint character and additionally by an excellent transmission and chemical resistance and workability. At that, the glasses of the invention can stand out due to lower costs of production caused by lower costs of raw materials and lower processing costs, due to their crystallization properties that can be handled also in smaller melting aggregates, and due to good environmental compatibility.

The optical glass contains the components LaO, BO, GeO, HfOand InOand in which the following components are present in the following proportions, in % by weight on an oxide basis:

Optical glass and optical element

Glass having an optimized degree of cross-linking of the phosphate component in the glass matrix is provided so that excellent weatherability is achieved. These glasses are fluorophosphate glasses that contain copper oxide as coloring component. The glasses can further contain coloring components and are obtainable in a method that includes a bubbling step.
