A telecommunication system monitors, for a plurality of services, a number of service requests from users and quality of service perceived by the users while using the services. A self-organizing network module determines a correlation between at least one configuration parameter, the number of service requests and the quality of service perceived, and, based on the correlation, a target number of service requests, and a target quality of service, determines an updated value for the at least one configuration parameter. Then the self-organizing network module commands the telecommunication system to implement reconfiguration thereof based on the updated value of the at least one configuration parameter.

Telecommunication system and method for reconfiguring it

A self-organizing system for mobile communication optimization includes circuitry that collects external data related to an external event causing gathering of user equipment in a geographic area. The circuitry obtains spatial and time identifiers of the external event based on the external data in order to forecast data traffic due to the external event. The circuitry then generates a corresponding critical issues report identifying potential critical issues based on the data traffic forecast, and generates and enforces a network communication update based on the critical issues report.

Self-organizing network system

A method includes predicting the number of users of user terminals gathering in a target area within a region on a first day. The method includes collecting records relating to user terminals positioning data, and partitioning a portion of the region of interest into an intermediate area surrounding the target area and an external area which surrounds the intermediate area. For each observation time slot, a first term indicative of the number of user terminals moving from the external area to the intermediate area are calculated during said observation time slot based, a second term indicative of user terminals which, during a reference day preceding the first day, moved from the external area to the intermediate area is calculated, and the difference between said first term and said second term is calculated. The number of new user terminals which entering the target area is predicted based on the difference.

Method and system for traffic analysis

A method of managing a network apparatus of a telecommunication network, where the network apparatus does not expose management interfaces sufficient to allow managing at least one operational parameter thereof of interest for the managing, includes collecting data about the network apparatus to be managed by making requests to the network apparatus to be managed and to at least one other network apparatus in operating relationships with the network apparatus to be managed. Based on the collected data, generating a behavioral model of the network apparatus to be managed. The behavioral model is an inferred logical and mathematical model of the behavior of the network apparatus to be managed with respect to the operational parameter thereof of interest for the managing. The method also includes and managing the network apparatus to be managed exploiting the generated behavioral model thereof.

Method and system for managing telecommunication network apparatuses

A radio access network node of a telecommunication network and method, the node including: a system of radiating antennas radiating radio signals through a geographic territory, and a processor configured to execute computer-readable instructions to: obtain or generate a topographic map of the geographic territory; based on the topographic map, calculate a coverage map of radio coverage of the geographic territory by the radiated radio signals; based on the coverage map, shrink the topographic map to obtain a reduced-size topographic map; based on the calculated coverage map, create a first data structure including plural first data structure records, one for each point of the calculated coverage map, each first data structure records providing a description of a service delivery capability of the node in that point, and exploit the first data structure to decide how to serve user equipment located in the territory corresponding to the reduced-size topographic map.

Radio access network node for a telecommunication network

A method for simulating a telecommunications network through objects that model respective network devices provides for simulating through the objects, the supply of network services according to respective quality of service profiles, by selectively identifying at least one quality of service profile, and dynamically configuring the objects to simulate the supply of the service corresponding to the selectively identified quality of service profile. In the simulation of networks having mobile terminals, the quality of service profile preferably has parameters chosen from traffic class, maximum transfer time of a data unit, guaranteed transfer speed for data transmitted by mobile terminal toward the network, maximum transfer speed for data transmitted from mobile terminal toward the network, guaranteed transfer speed for data transmitted by the network toward mobile terminal, and maximum transfer speed for data transmitted by the network toward mobile terminal.

Method for simulating a communication network that considers quality of service

An architecture for monitoring quality of service in a telecommunication network having a set of terminals provides for the terminals of the set of terminals to house measuring agents able to be configured to interlace with processes selected among processes for managing the application sessions of the network and processes for measuring the operating conditions of the network itself. Also provided is a management and configuration sub-system having a module for scheduling quality of service measurement campaigns capable of involving respective sub-sets of terminals according to a set of characteristics identifying the measurement campaign. The scheduling module is capable of configuring, for the purposes of the execution of the measurement campaigns, the measuring agents housed by the terminals included in the related subsets according to the set of identifying characteristics. An additional sub-system for managing the collection of the measurement data has a database for storing the measurement data and a processing center for processing the data.

Quality of service monitoring architecture, related method, network and computer program product

Monitoring system includes a set of peripheral monitoring agents including processing functionalities housed in SIMS. Such processing functionalities, depending at least on operating conditions of each terminal and its respective SIMS, are able to adaptively establish a distribution of measuring functionalities included in the peripheral monitoring agents between the terminal itself (for example storing them in the related memory or multimedia card) and its respective SIM.

System for monitoring the quality of service in a communication network

A system and related device emulates the behavior of mobile networks independently from the manner of collecting data about the behavior of the network obtained through a simulation of field measurements. The system emulates the behavior of the network during the exchange of information between terminals and uses an emulation device comprising two circuit blocks. The first is able to process the information according to time sequences corresponding to those of mobile networks. The second one exchanges information between the terminals connected to suitable interfaces. This architecture makes it possible to emulate uplink and downlink functions of the mobile network, displaying on the terminals the effects of the behavior of the network under various operating conditions.
