A braking band having an annular band body arranged around a rotation axis and made of one of gray cast iron, steel, aluminum or alloys thereof, has at least one braking surface having an activated band body portion for increasing adhesive capacity of at least one protective surface coating placed on the surface of the activated band body portion and having at least one material with elevated resistance to abrasion. The activated band body portion is arranged on the surface of the annular band body to form an outermost layer of the braking band with the at least one protective surface coating and has a rough profile having at least one channel delimited by at least one pair of projections, extending along a path at least partially surrounding the rotation axis and having a channel bottom and a first channel side forming an acute angle with the channel bottom and an opposite second channel side forming an obtuse angle with the channel bottom.

A method for making a brake disc may include the following steps: a) preparing a brake disc having a braking band provided with two opposite braking surfaces, (b) subjecting at least one of the braking surfaces to a working process adapted to increase the surface roughness thereof; c) nitrocarburizing the braking surface with increased surface roughness to obtain on the surface a nitrocarburized surface layer; (d) depositing on the nitrocarburized surface layer a material in particle form having: &#x2014;Cr3C2 and NiCr, or &#x2014;NiCr, Fe, Mo, Co, Mn and Al, which forms a base protective coating; and e) depositing on the base protective coating a material in particle form consisting of WC, Fe, Cr and Al, thus forming a surface protective coating of WC and Fe, Cr and Al.

Method of making a brake disc and brake disc for a disc brake

A ventilated braking band for brake disc having a first plate and a second plate; the first plate has at least a first inner surface, and the second plate has a second inner surface. The first inner surface defines a first inner surface plane or level (z-z) coinciding with said first inner surface, and the said second inner surface defines a second inner surface plane or level (z-z) coinciding with the second inner surface. The ventilated braking band has connecting elements which extend in an axial direction between the first inner surface and the second inner surface. The ventilated braking band has at least one bulge. The at least one bulge is partially interpenetrated with: at least one portion of the first foot, thus forming a structural continuity with the first foot, thus avoiding the first inner surface level from being reached; or at least one portion of a second foot, thus forming a structural continuity with the second foot, thus avoiding the second inner surface level from being reached.

A method for manufacturing a brake disc may have the following operating steps: a) preparing a brake disc, with a braking band and provided with two mutually opposite braking surfaces; b) depositing on the disc a layer of chromium carbide (Cr3C2) and nickel-chromium (NiCr) in particulate form forming a base protective coating; and c) depositing over the base protective coating a material in particulate form with the tungsten carbide (WC) and cobalt (Co) forming a surface protective coating. Both protective coatings are created with HVOF (High Velocity Oxygen Fuel), HVAF (High Velocity Air Fuel) or KM (Kinetic Metallisation) technique.

Method for manufacturing a brake disc and brake disc for disc brakes

A ventilated braking band for ventilated brake disc, unusually capable of an efficient cooling and structural resistance, has a first plate and a second plate. The ventilated braking band has protrusions which project from a plate without reaching the other plate. Some of the protrusions which project from one of the first or second plate form a protrusion group. The protrusion group forms a continuous or interrupted protrusion group path. The protrusion group projects from both plates, thus forming at least a first and a second protrusion group path. The projections of the first and second protrusion group path cross one another on a plane parallel to the first or second braking surface of the respective plates.

Ventilated braking band, ventilated brake disc and method of ventilation

A disc brake rotor has a support hub and coaxial braking band. The support hub has a plurality of radial seats and the braking band has a plurality of connecting elements which transfer torque between the band and the hub. The connecting elements are integral and made as one piece with the braking band and extend from the braking band in order to engage the corresponding radial seats. The connecting elements are surrounded by walls which are integral and made as one piece with the support hub such as to be fastened in the axial direction and in the tangential direction, but capable of sliding in the radial direction.

Disc for disc brakes

A brake disc of a rotation axis, comprising a support carrier, a braking band comprising two flanges connected by a plurality of connection elements which define ventilation channels for the braking band, at least one drive element able to connect the support carrier and the braking band to each other. The connection elements have a variable resistant section in an axial direction parallel to the rotation axis, the resistant section being measured in an area substantially parallel to the direction of the air flow inside the ventilation channels. Such resistant section progressively increasing as it moves from a median resistant section towards the respective connection resistant sections of the connection element to the flanges.
